The final narration told what happened and it didn't have anything to do with Tom destroying the tripod. "From the moment the invaders arrived, breathed our air, ate and drank, they were doomed. They were undone, destroyed, after all of man's weapons and devices had failed, by the tiniest creatures that God in his wisdom put upon this earth. By the toll of a billion deaths, man had earned his immunity, his right to survive among this planet's infinite organisms. And that right is ours against all challenges. For neither do men live nor die in vain." Understandable to miss while watching the first time and doing a reaction. Really liked this reaction too, like all the others I've watched. Keep up the good work, and really fun to see you improving your reactions too with like better lightning and easier to sync with style of newer ones.

The beginning and end narrations are lifted straight from the HG Wells novel and in the end the aliens survived our weapons but not the bacteria/viruses that we had grown immune to (that was the reference to the “billion” deaths that had led to our survival. A couple of times Robbie showed he was angry and he wanted to fight back so I always felt that was his impulsive motivation. If I remember correctly, in the novel Tim Robbins’ character is actually a priest and was sort of showing how religion was not helping that character in a desperate situation.
