Mr Jackpots

It's better if you don't know the song then your reaction is pure, just like when you're doing a reaction for youtube, you don't watch the MV before reacting to it.

A.D

im miihi biased but mayuka absolutely steals this ep , just casually reveals oh btw hey im a freakin fantastic rapper and gets 3rd - queen

Crimson

My personal favorite was Rima's team but I understand why JYP let Miihi's team won. Tbh I grinding my teeth when Miihi's team won but I better give it to Mako's team. ICY is easy song to execute in term of vibe and expression.

Mr Jackpots

I've seen all of it. Still traumatized by the eliminations, actually worse than with Twice.

Phion

06:47 Ayaka 10:35 you mean Maya? 16:10 you really should do "heartbeat" as throw back thursday+live stage reaction because the choreo is on fire. (Maybe live stage reaction should be on the patreon? I don't know the youtube policy)

Phion

You gotta remember this is not only for the competition but for the team. While they are not on the stage they eat together, practice together, hang out together. It is not as bad as Mnet's shows where the editors purposefully put in false emotions or personas on the trainees but this show also does not show the fullest by editing out(or lack there of) their interactions outside the practice rooms. That's why I am eager to see reality shows done by Niziu.

Phion

+ I would love to see your reaction on I-land. It is very typical Mnet style editing and show but I want to see how you enjoy it.

Momoka definitely held back the team's performance. If she had more confidence and showed her leveled up potential they absolutely would have won first place. Mayuka's opening rap part with Mako following right after is so good! That whole beginning part is my favorite part of the song. They killed the rap, vocals and choreo.

Mr Jackpots

Episode 9 is really good. I like the songs they were given better than the one they pre-debuted with. Episode 10 is when the final competition takes and the 3 girls are eliminated. The appeal of ep 10 is that Sana is the MC and Momo is a judge along with JYP. It's also the only one of the Let'sKCulture vids that's 1080p.

2K5 (Mako, Riku, Mayuka, Ayaka, Momoka) – Heartbeat • Vocal – 9 Mayuka had been more or less completely off my radar up until this point, but her rap put her firmly on the map. One of the top rap performances this whole season, with strong, emotive flow, forceful delivery, and great breath control. Riku’s powerful, round, emotive vocals secure her position as one to watch. Not overly showy like power belters Nina and Miihi (though she also is given those parts), but so reliably full and pleasing; she gives me Jeongyeon parallels, in that regard. Ayaka continues to noticeably fall short of the mark, with a thin voice, though she at least projects well. Momoka’s first section started well, but she fell back to her typical flatness later. Mako’s “shout” phrases can turn flat as she forces out those phrases, but dynamics are there elsewhere. Well-blended vocal ad-libs throughout. • Dance – 10 Girls did so well here, pulling off all kinds of different shapes, from sharp, angular marionette shapes to dejected, slumped over. Ayaka’s tallness is working against her, since during the slumped sections, her spine is too upright, so she should either bend more at the abdomen and/or pull back her shoulders so her head appears more forward. There are a couple moments where Momoka falls out of line: 1.) about a half step ahead at the “zombie Charleston” leg cross midway through the song, and 2.) not getting as good extension at the outro dance break, where they’re supposed to make a T shape, when bending forward and fully extending one arm and one leg outward. Overall, good on the girls for keeping a good center/balance, because this choreo demands hitting and holding a lot of weird, floppy poses. Also, pretty impressed with the brief tutting section at the end, though Ayaka couldn’t hit the angles as sharply, and Momoka was too small in her shapes, not spreading out her elbows as the box was meant to expand. For all the dynamics and speed changes of this song (slow/fast, hard/soft, sharp/soft), they did a great job keeping in-synch and matching lines (like seen in the practice segment with Mako checking the group's levels and telling Ayaka to adjust her elbow height). • Face – 9 The key emotions to convey are 1.) dead defeat from frustrated inability to get a person to listen to you, 2.) forceful, determined pleading. I think everyone did absolutely stellar on hitting those marks EXCEPT for Momoka, who (up until this point) had always been one of the top facial emoter. She hit #1 but didn’t adapt when the song shifted from “defeat” to “determined.” • Group Interaction – 10 This choreo is loaded with cause & effect, letting the members look like they’re really interacting with each other instead of just dancing individually in their little boxes. Whether that’s Mako “waking up” and pushing aside Mayuka at the beginning or the numerous marionette “control” movements. Formations seemed clean and properly spaced.

Wayne W

I ranked Heartbeat 1, Feel Special 2, ICY 3. Everyone did well, but I think JYP decided Momoka didn’t do enough to make it to the final and had to cut her because she wasn’t growing; so they couldn't win. Chameleon Mayuka earned her name here because she absolutely destroyed this stage. Mako is so earnest even though she's on God-mode. I watched everything, but after this episode, I wanted everyone to make it. At this point viewers didn’t know it’d be 9 members, so I was rooting for all 12 to make it; especially at the end when JYP is like "all 12 can debut. Not sure." Ha ha. Can't believe there are only 2 more episodes to go. Can't wait for you to see the MV and all the other content they posted.

A.D

you could have let him be suprised

Wayne W

Forgot to mention that I could also hear the thunder. :)

A.D

@TooGrown Oh btw! not a spoiler just copyright info but theres a cut in the middle of ep 10 because stray kids performed (but got cut on youtube for copyright purposes). I know youre not there yet but its a 2 parter so just saying so now in case youre like wait what happened

spiceboymike

As a kpop fan for 8 years now; I've seen a lot of debuts of my favorite kpop artists! And I assure you, there's NOTHING like being invested in a group from the very beginning! And unlike your journey with Twice where you found them 5 years in, and now have gone back to watch their progression since SIXTEEN; you're going to have an even more special place in your heart for this group because you were here from the very beginning to watch them grow and evolve before their debut; almost as if you were a part of the group yourself! I had already watched Season 2 before you announced that you were going to watch it on Patreon; but hang in there (LOL...and DON'T CHEAT); you're going to be very happy with the end result! And you have so much to watch; because they're putting out content as fast as Twice is this year already! Just TWO MORE EPISODES LEFT...YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Team Mako: This evaluation will be easy because all I have to say is that I agree with all you said... Momoka wasn't particularly bad but the other 4 were so much better! Mako and Riku have never shown a bad performance so far and Mayuka and Ayaka leveled up so much that it was kinda scary at this point. But in all honesty - how can you not give this performance a 10/10 considering that this was the most difficult song performed in Korean? But the most difficult part is to decide who won... If Miihi had a better day I'd give it to Team Maya... Team Nina: I love this song so much... But I didn't like Riria's performance. She often didn't hit the right notes for the (admittedly very difficult) runs and had problems with the rhythm. I can't say anything about her dancing because I really suck at it, but it looked good in my opinion. Rima, Nina and Rio did an amazing job, though! I don't know if I'm too hard on Riria here but I have to give it an 8/10. This was also the first time where I really disagreed with JYP. I ranked the songs as you did and I was as shocked as you were at the end... I get why JYP put Momoka on #13. As I said she isn't bad at singing or dancing... It's just that she didn't change at all in these 5 months. While Rio, Miihi, Mako or even Mayuka were coming earlier to practise sessions and stayed longer, Momoka would have been the one who needed that extra training and boost in confidence. It's a shame, but I hope she keeps going because with effort she could be a great addition to any group. I watched the show when it came out, but at some point the videos with good quality were delayed so I had to wait or watch it in bad quality... I chose to watch the bad quality video and the MV after that. 2-3 weeks later I watched it again in 1080p and came here to watch it with you for the third time ^^" So now next week you gonna predict the group members? That's gonna be interesting!

Anonymous

This is my first time too watching this show with you and the squad here on patreon, i watch season 1 on my own and so far my bias is Mayuka. She really made a miracle on season 1 and now i really love her facial expression on this episode

Anonymous

How did I do it? By crying lol. One of my bias didn't make it :(. But the final group is so good! Still very happy happy!

Whoo, yeah, I can hear the thunder, but it's still suppressed in the background of the audio. You and the show are still coming in clear, without meaningful disruption. And I caught both seasons as they were released on YouTube on the official channel. After seeing the press conference announcing the Nizi Project, I was frustrated it was a Hulu Japan show, but was pleased that they wound up releasing them for free on YT, albeit with like a month delay. However, I had the final lineup spoiled on social media, so at that point, I just went to "alternative" sources to play catch-up.

We Bling (Nina, Rima, Rio, Riria) – Icy • Vocal - 7 You can hear breathing difficulty all throughout, for all members (as was mentioned in past trainer feedback, even Nina has noticeable breathing problems when singing lower.) Unfortunate, but not all too surprising given the energetic Itzy choreo, and the sharp inflections required much of the vocals. Riria, in particular, seemed to suffer the most from the breathing problems. Rima’s vocals seemed lacking in dynamics, though the limited range she stayed in sounded at least full. Overall, the vocal blend just really didn’t come together for this group. • Dance - 7 The iconic backbend was mostly alright, though, the girls hit it at a whole range of angles, Rio handling it the best, and Riria, not quite getting as much curvature as the others. The choreo’s waves help cover up timing mismatches, if there were any, but they seemed hit their respective cues satisfactorily. Unfortunately the tight cameras and reaction cutaways make it difficult to judge much of the dance, particularly the dance break floorwork right before the bridge. The arm and leg angles during the whacking/voguing section (“Girrrrrls!”) seemed all over the place between the members. But with regards to Nina, whose one major hold-up to fix up was dancing, I think she performed very cleanly and confidently through this difficult choreo. This performance should fully assuage any lingering doubts of her ability to memorize and execute a group dance. Also, Rio’s starting feedback of needing to “dance for others” rather than just “dancing for herself” is fully addressed here, solidly “giving” it with both the dance and the facials and eye contact. • Face – 9 Good sassy faces all around. • Group Interaction – (blank) Boy, do I hate an asymmetrical 4-person V formation; the spacing just feels so off-kilter for me. I feel like this dance wouldn’t have felt so off if they did symmetric 2-rows-of-2 formations, instead. I’m just going to abstain from giving this a grade. Special note: I think that Rio and Nina ( the two NiziU trainees at opposite ends of the “dancing/singing spectrum”) pairing up and helping work out each other’s weak points was a fantastic partnership.

I was going to wait to watch season 2 with you when you announced it on Patreon. I had to catch up and watch all of season 1 so I'd be ready to watch it with you. But as I finished watching season one in one sitting I said screw it let's go back to back with season 2. I have no self control. 😂😂

Regarding the Nina dance feedback from JYP: coming out of the Tokyo training camp, Nina was ranked 24 out of 26 for Dance. So he wasn't saying her dancing for this round was the worst but rather, that of the 13 trainees who came to Seoul, she was the lowest-ranked, by far. So compared to that starting point, she made huge improvements.

Puppy

You've been sleeping on 2PM's heartbeat for 11 years 😂

Puppy

And here is JYP performing heartbeat 😂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smtCGvpbCg8

This is the 5th time I watched Nizi Project. And it still brings the same feeling that you are feeling in your stomach. And yes 2 more episode. Hopefully you will get the whole finale with Straykids performance. I shed tears for this show but I shed a dam of tears with 15+1.

Anonymous

TooGrown, while there's no crying in baseball, there IS crying in K-pop survival shows. Embrace being a whole person, with the full range of emotions. I don't think it's weak to cry, but rather, to let that stop you. I supposed contexts matter as to whether that temporary speedbump matters to the overall proceedings. (I've been holding my tongue on this because I think your abundant positive energy is one of your "charm points," but speaking of "full range," your 1-10 scale is really an 8-10 scale, even for performances you've called out issues with. So depending on whether you've used one or two decimal places, it's a 20-point or 200-point scale.) I do believe that you’re genuinely blown away by all the performances, which is why everything is always at the top of the scale. However, if you start at the top, you leave little room to notate improvements, which the girls have clearly demonstrated over the course of the show. Then you get weird things like what happened here, where instead of using 0.5 increments, you’ve had to change your increments to 0.1, so that you could grade one team slightly higher. I understand the core sentiment: Both were 9.5s, but one was just a bit better. However, both can still have a 9.5 score, because ranking can come at a later sorting phase. As JYP said, these three performances this round are all #1, but a sorting was still able to be made. And also, unlike Sixteen, despite the show format dividing them into teams, these girls were never truly competing against one another. The competition was not designed as a zero-sum game. If each girl excelled and improved, there was a spot waiting for them in the final group. The only person who could defeat them was themselves and their (lack of ) determination or (in)capability to shine. The way to win isn't to suppress the advancement of another person, but to improve yourself. And as we saw in this episode, the way to do that is to seek help from others, strengthening the future group as a whole. "A rising tide lifts all ships," as they say. Or at least it can, as long as you can keep swimming upwards yourself, too, to mix analogies.

serenity

I watched this while it was airing, I was literally sobbing during the last episode lol

D

JYP Junior. Hahahahhaha GOT7 Jinyoung is shaking.

Anonymous

From my observation of your grading, I’d say something like a 5 point scale would be great for you: hate, dislike, okay, liked, loved.

Anonymous

Ok so first, I won't call you JYP Jr. til we get a JYP impersonation coming from you ! :P As for, my ranking it was IRIS > 2k5 > We Bling... Since all 3 perfs were amazing, I had to judge them by their emotional investment and since FS was by far the hardest song to get in emotionally speaking, I decided to give this win to IRIS. Also, yeah now one of the girls is out and there's still 3 to go BUT you can't give up on the 2 last eps lol. Ofc, it's hard but this is what makes your attachement to them stronger at the end of the day... As a former ONCE I went throught this kind of feeling with sixteen (nah I won't ever call it 15+1 since I'm strong enough now to handle it pretty well and the trauma isn't here anymore) and believe me, in few years, it'll be one of your best memories as a K-pop fan. You'll grow with the girls and this will be the foundation of your relation with them so you HAVE to endure it til the end hahaha <3

HansonJuin

grown, I'm not mean to bash you but if you find it is too difficult understand that english subtitle for this website. Why not you try out to watch at other website such as dramacool.com or kissassian.com Is just my suggestion but all decision is on you.

Anonymous

I surprisingly was able to watch all of this before they debuted, but I didn't have subtitles, so AFTER they debuted, I went back and watched it all again with subtitles and with the winners in mind... And when you know which 9 win, you kiiinda realize how much they were favored camera time wise compared to the others... BUT. I WAS a little shocked at the final lineup. (Without giving anything away), I was unsure of one girl and she was announced last and I honestly thought she wouldn't make it, there was another girl I assumed throughout season 2 wouldn't make it and she DID make it, and then there was another girl I assumed HAD to make it cuz of how much cameratime and attention she got both seasons... and she DIDN'T make it. But I remember during the finale (the first time) being actually shocked that he didn't debut all of them. But now that I've seen their debut, their dance performance and dance practice, their alternate video in Korean, and another stage performance, I can actually see why he chose these 9. There are so many parallels to Twice that it gives me goosebumps, and just knowing they have room to improve and grow is insane too.

Kyle Twitch

Because when I brought up these issues the Family seemed to prefer this channel as the whole performances are shown

HansonJuin

No worry grown, I just gave a suggestion but if you are alright and I understood that you were like follow the majority then you may just continue to watch at this website

Anonymous

My question is where will the Nizi group be after you finish the project? Will you react to them on YT or Patreon? or at all? I would love to see you react to not just the pre-debut mv but their little stuff on their yt channel like the dance performances and the "Who's Your Mama?" fun video they did (it was shot during the project). Anywho, love every reaction so far! Keep it up bro! ^_^

Me in the gym about to go for max pullups: "FIGHTING.." My buddy: "..what?"

2PM Heartbeat is FIRE. I'm expecting this to be Thursdays Throwback.

Anonymous

I'm watching this with you but I saw the MV first so I know who made it. In one way that means it's less stressful but it's also sad because I'm watching the 4 girls who didn't make it and seeing how hard they work knowing all along they won't be there at the end. :( It would be so much easier if the ones who got eliminated were sucking and I could say "Yeah they sucked." Instead all 13 of these girls are doing their best and doing well so it's like...ouch. Y'know?

Anonymous

50:45 he said Nina compared to the other 3 in her group was the worst dancer, but they're all skilled dancers and she held her own despite that which shows she improved tremendously in dance. Also her vocals are freaking amazing...well I added that but it's true.

yesterday was september 1. and some Patreons don't pay automatically ^^ so don't worry... happens all the time

I joined you for the season 2, cause i also stopped watching at the same time ! Thanks for the videos man, i appreciate it !

Unsure of the last girl? No way, JYP found gold in her. He wasn’t about to let her go 🏆

Stefano

That 2PM performance from Mako's team was SO FREAKIN' DOPE.

glassy99

For me it was Maya Team > Mako Team > Rio Team Was so happy Maya's team won! Akari was so good again.
