I vote to keep reacting to LetsKCulture. The subs aren’t perfect and the video quality isn’t HD but having uncut reactions is a lot better

Anonymous

The funny thing about the Chaeyoung and Rima comparison is the on this performance did the same song that Chaeyoung did on the 1v1 against Jihyo on 15+1

Anonymous

They both have their pros and cons, but I think I prefer LetsKCulture. Having watched episode 3 on the JYP channel, I noticed that they cut several scenes from the show, especially in performances. So although LetsKCulture's subs and video quality aren't as good, their version allows for a better reaction imo.

Chewwwy

Yuna is the trainer who has the longest period among them 4. The trainees were Yuna, Mako (both 3 years) and Miihi, Rima (both 11 months trainee during season 2). Rima is my bias and I am so happy that she was praised here. Aside from sick rap, she also played the drums during season 1. And Mako, wrecking all of us with her talent was supposed to debut with Itzy.

Anonymous

I vote to keep the Let'sKCulture videos! And bruh it's crazy you made the Chaeyoung and Rima connection. Because Chaeyoung did that exact song by JYP AND she also made her own rap for her performance against Jihyo in 15+1. There is no rap in the original song. Both Chaeyoung and Rima added their own rap and killed it! Also yes you have seen Twice cover Sunmi's 24 hours in the sexy moments compilation. You gotta check their full cover. In my opinion Mina covers that song the best! She kills it!

Anonymous

Also another thing to note. It's pretty common for trainees to perform songs from the senior groups from that company. Hence why you see a lot of Wonder Girls and Miss A songs. Plus they are such legendary groups who have many huge hits.

Mr Jackpots

In case you were wondering about JYP's comments to Riria, he was being very careful because of blowback he got in season 1 about self care. He was saying the same thing to her that the trainer did in that she wasn't strong enough to handle the song. The reason is she didn't do the physical training like the other girls to strengthen her core muscles to achieve the kind of stability that Riku had. She didn't do the hard work needed to shape her body into a strong, balanced dancer's body that could sing and dance without effort. See Mako for the perfect example of a singer/dancer.

Theysandor

I think you should keep reacting to LetsKCulture. The subs are "meh" but absolutely sufficient to understand everything. And for the quality .... as the video itself only take about 1/3rd of the screen for us, it really doesn't matter at all on our side. You are the only one suffering from it !! But i've been really frustrated by the cuts in the performances on ep 1 and 2 (official channel), as i've already watched all of season 2 and it wasn't on the officical channel. If they are cutting performances as much in the following episodes... my my i don't want you and everybody watching this for the first time to experience it ! Mayuka is said to bear some ressemblance to Joy (especialy the way she smile) so that MAY explain why you liked her so quickly ;) And i'm with you ... Rima could have earn her cube directly ... but in the end that's JYP deciding :)

Unsalted Pecan

Ugh small spoiler for TooGrown I hope he doesnt see this but Rima's performance in the next round is my favorite, her rap was so long and stable I still can't get my wig back on.

Unsalted Pecan

Niziu's official debut is in November so dont worry there is still plenty of time to finish the show and then react to their pre-debut MV and then their official debut in November.

Mr Jackpots

Only one person gets eliminated before the finale so don't worry about it. It's not like Sixteen or Fifteen plus One, whatever. FYI, self management means controlling your weight. If you can't discipline yourself enough to control your diet then how can you do the training and deal with all the problems and stress of being an idol? That's why JYP puts so much emphasis on it. Millions of dollars and the future of his company are riding on who he picks for this group, just like it did with Twice.

Wayne W

I give you credit for the Rima Cube prediction! Another vote for sticking with the LetsKCulture episodes. The video quality and sub quality are worth it to see the full show.

Okay, I guess I'll start playing along with judging game... One post per performance. Mayuka – Wonder Girls “Like This” • Dance (technical) – 8 She consistently hit the choreo, had good consistent shapes/lines, but power and sharpness were a bit soft. • Dance (musicality) – 9 Except for a couple of late hand points, she rode the music perfectly. • Vocal (technical) – 7 Stayed in the same range, lacking in dynamics. Original song isn’t the most dynamic (outside of ad libs), though, so can’t fault her too much. Perfectly fine for a non-main vocal section. Excellent stability and stamina over the course of the song, though. A few flat spots. • Vocal (texture) – 8 As stated above, the original song isn’t very dynamic. She did have good punch and punctuation at the “this”-es, which is essential for the song. • Face – 8 Started strong, but then midway through the song, you can see in her eyes that she shifted away from “selling” the song to “evaluating” JYP’s own face, taking away from the performance. Thankfully, though, the lower half of the face stays in the game.

Carl Dungca

Momoka – Twice (BDZ) • Dance (technical) – 8 Choreo was memorized right, but inconsistent execution. Sometimes excellent sharpness and extension, sometimes hesitant “small” moves. Has good care for the “in-between” energy and shape transitioning between poses. Gets rounded up because she does seem to know what it “should” look like and is capable of naturally doing it, despite not always presenting it. • Dance (musicality) – 7 Hit the choreo on time, but energy of the hits is very inconsistent. • Vocal (technical) – 6 Keeps up with the dynamics of the song, but generally flat all over. • Vocal (texture) – 6 You can really hear the lack of confidence in her delivery. • Face – 10 She turns it on right when the performance starts and off again right when it ends. Through the performance itself, she’s really selling, with playful expressions and winks interspersed. Face never shows when she’s falling short on execution.

Carl Dungca

Riria – JYP “Who’s Your Mama” • Dance (technical) – 5 Shapes and lines were ill-defined. Clearly lacking confidence in the dance. Hit the moves still, but with poor execution. • Dance (musicality) – 4 Regularly off-beat, whether late and rushing to catch up, or slightly ahead. Didn’t know how to modulate speed/sharpness appropriately. • Vocal (technical) – 7 Despite stamina failing near the end, had good tone and dynamics in the first 2/3 of the song. Decent power. • Vocal (texture) – 7 Hit the sharp punctuations and dragged where appropriate. Not as soulfully vocally playful as the song asks, though. • Face – 8 Despite the dance technical shortcomings, did well enough in keeping the face together to aid in the selling. Good switching between the “I’m giving it” expressions and the “now look at me” expressions.

A.D

The 4 trainees are Mako, Miihi, RIma and Yuna :) Yuna is actually the longest trainee, but yes Mako is the oldest in terms of age

Carl Dungca

Rima – JYP “Honey” • Dance (technical) – 7 A little short on precision and texturing. • Dance (musicality) – 8 Despite what I see as technical shortcomings, the spirit of this jazzy song to be wild and ride the music. She did groove, if sometimes a little too carefully, resulting in what seemed to be tentative hand placement. • Vocal (technical) – 7 Stamina falling short right at the end. Her playfulness comes at expense of stability and consistent tone. • Vocal (texture) – 10 Out of all the contestants, I think Rima consistently puts the most effort into making sure the vocal delivery matches the mood of the song. She gives this performance a good wildness with squeaks, griminess, and deep soul. • Face – 9 Honestly, for K-Pop standards of the needs to stage performances, this is probably actually a 10, but I personally sense that she’s always over-selling the facial expressions, and it often reads as unnatural to me. This was consistently the feedback that JYP gave her, that she doesn't feel authentically true to herself.

Carl Dungca

I see where a lot of people, skill-wise match Rima to Chaeyoung, but in my eyes, personality-wise, she matches up with Dahyun more. While ostensibly supposed to be hard-edged rappers, they often come across as the most sensitive, regularly coming to tears for both good and bad things that happen. Plus, they have that bit of "extra" goofiness that comes out, particularly in off-stage interactions.

Carl Dungca

Bro. Bro. BRUH. "Are they flexing JYP on us?" Dude. That concert they showed was to celebrate JYP having written, composed, and/or sang 50 #1 hits for either himself or other artists. But by the time he put on the show, he already had 52 under his belt. He was flexing on the whole danged industry. His blazer didn't even have sleeves so that no one could possibly miss the flexing. Show had live band, live singers, no backing track, and he sang and danced for hours. And for his songs for female performers, he did NOT change the choreography to dance more masculinely. The only thing pre-recorded were videos for the screens. The majority of the concert is up on his YT channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcgIlK_yUp4&list=PL47ehdp5cfA15JQyeykPuxEWoWpmiwqef

Carl Dungca

Mako – Sunmi “24 Hours” • Dance (technical) – 8 Great extension, great power. Good shapes and lines. The slower moves don’t always have the right “dragging” texture, though. • Dance (musicality) – 8 Inconsistent on the soft side, noticeable particularly with the hand strokes and the body wave at the side-step. Needs more practice with the slow/sensual kinds of dance. Overall really good modulation of sharp/smooth energy, though. • Vocal (technical) – 8 She’s done slow songs before, but I think the breathiness of this song robbed her voice of a lot of power and projection, sometimes resulting in being too soft. Back to being good during the belting portion of the song. Seems like the rhythmic delivery took a toll on her breathing, too. Really good bending displayed, though. • Vocal (texture) – 8 Understands—if not fully able to deliver on—the mood of the song, with short, sharp, raspy phrases and other streeetched phrases. The song requires you to sound like you’re struggling to breathe due to desperation about romantic feelings. • Face – 7 Regularly shifts between selling sensuality and the right and wrong kinds of timidity. The right kind being the disbelieving yearning of the song, and the wrong being her evaluating JYP’s realtime judgement. She's always looking at him, and the song should have some more introspection, looking inward, rather than outward--so less eye-contact.

Chaeyoung also sang "Honey" by JYP, on sixteen. I love the fact that their versions are still completely different from eachother to me.

Carl Dungca

I only just stumbled upon the channel recently, but 2 of the dance trainers for JYP/Nizi Project have been doing reaction videos to the show, complete with English subtitles. This first video covers this 1st round of individual performances: https://youtu.be/dc9ONfQ2dW4

Rima went with the Chaeyoung strategy from Sixteen performing Honey and adding her own rap. She is definitely main rapper material.

Scott Adams

So the criticisms given to Jihyo bothered me because they were about her weight and how she "looked." The feedback Riria gets I think I'm not as bothered about because it's more "you need to get stronger," you need a LOT of cardio work to be able to dance and sing like that. It's obvious at the end of her performance she was super winded, and we've seen how insane Twice concerts are there's no way someone can do that job without being basically an athlete. So this time I understand the critique a bit more.

Scott Adams

at 36:15 Yo CHAE-MONEY VIBES here's a quick link to Chae doing "Honey" for JYP. She's like a little mini-Chaeyoung. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ctqLXkCBBc Also, Rima deserved a cube! #JusticeForRima

Scott Adams

Oooh Mako did Sunmi's 24 Hours?? Sunmi is my #1 Soloist. I adore her. From what I've seen, Mako could definitely go solo. Also from Twice the only ones I think I could actually see solo would be...Chaeyoung.

Stroodle Noodle

I noticed Mako dancing she seemed to have trouble with pointing her feet at times it also looked a few moments where it was sickled. I found it interesting considering how great her extension is.

Puppy

That moment when you watched Sixteen to know more about TWICE and Nizi Project to know more about NiziU, but you fall in love with JYP. He's just the best.

Datawolf

I think staying on this channel for reactions is good. The drop to 720p isn't really a problem, it's still perfectly watchable so I'm fine to deal with it if it means we get the full performances unlike the previous channel.

Puppy

JYP's music style is interesting. He has made the shake that booty type, playboy songs, like 'Elevator.' But he also made songs like g.o.d 'Lies' and 'One candle.' Watch his concert, he explained a lot in there.

Anonymous

i think rima definitely needed a cube for that performance. as for the other performances, i believe they were right. i think the bottom 4 are correct in being the bottom just from the performances alone. i think if you are gonna show your skills, then you need to have the responsibility to own up to your faults and fix them cuz you ain't the only one in the group in the end. these spots for a girl group, so you have to have the mentality of wanting to be the best you can be for yourself AND your members. confidence, body weight, attitude- whatever it may be, be sure to own up to it and fix it.

Puppy

It's so nice of JYP to invite them to his concert. This was before their performances so they got to see how the man himself would perform on the stage. Mako definitely learned a lot from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIEk05svcF4&list=PL47ehdp5cfA15JQyeykPuxEWoWpmiwqef&index=20 Also, "I have a lover" is definitely becoming my favorite JYP's song. This live version is even better than the recorded version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYDVj9L6Q48&list=PL47ehdp5cfA15JQyeykPuxEWoWpmiwqef&index=35 Bro, I can't wait to watch his concert when he turns 60. He promised he will be his best singer/dancer.

Puppy

The criticisms given to Jihyo are actually the same though. The difference is in the cut/production. Mnet is famous for dramatizing everything on the shows. Jihyo actually talked about some of this in vlive. She learned a lot from Momo and worked out with her. That's why she's in such great shape now allowing her to kill the dance with Momo.

Crimson

I suggest you watch full version of the performance if you want to judge properly. You can watch on Zaer Apollo channel. They cut almost 1/2 time performance even in official channel.

Well, now you've had a taste of sunmi's music, hopefully she is not too far off on your reactions, if you watch the variety show twice does dance to her stuff a lot, she is also my favourite soloist. Mako I could definitely see going solo, she already kinda stands out from most of the other contestants, most of them are bright cutesy girls and mako is bright but less cutesy. I think if twice were to go this way, I agree with Scott, as far as music goes Chaeyoung feels to me to be the most likely to succeed fully independent but I think many combinations of subgroups would work (you've seen a bit of those at concerts), also I think if they decided to go into acting and stuff they could probably all do fairly well.

D

I have always thought it's because of copyright. It's easier for JYP to broadcast using their own songs/songs produced by them because they already have the rights and doesn't need to pay for copyright.

D

You probably should do a Sunmi reaction for TBT. I vote Gashina (since literally every idol has covered/danced to it). Also for TWICE, Chaeyoung would probably do best as a soloist. The girl is all-in-one. Rap, dance, sing, compose, lyrics-writing, she could even be part of the creative direction of her solo.

Carlos

YO where is Twice Showcase in Japan(probably the first one)... Their encore was epic but youtube shut it all down. ONCE pls

Scott Adams

Twice subgroups are amazing. I love it when they split off to have fun or do some collabs especially with Red Velvet.

Scott Adams

If I could have him watch two soloist performance videos it'd be Gashina and Gotta Go from Sunmi, and Chungha. Those dances are amazing.

Chewwwy

I hope you will be able to do double reaction to the next episodes, since we are really gonna miss you next week. It ain't your fault, no one is at fault. We will just miss you.

Kyle Twitch

Patreon stuff should be recorded before I go so I'll be here on Patreon next week :)

Chewwwy

Waaaahhh! Yass. It will be too sad not to have a TooGrown reaction that long. Last time, we missed you a lot.

James Mclean

Please go back to supporting NiziU on the Official Channel. It is rare for JYPE to upload Content that has been on a Television Network and even more rare that's it's from a Japanese Network. Every view counts toward our support for future content

I love the subs of KCulture.

cloj

I personally prefer the official channel's video. The video from this one is a lot blurrier for me. Also, it's possible the audio quality suffers as well. Could have just been me but I really couldn't tell whether Mako was singing for her part or whether she was on autotune with the original vocal track playing. Really was a pleasure to see Riima show her real side. Her facade from the previous season was rubbing me the wrong way from the get go. She reminded me of those bitchy holier-than-thou teen "queens" and as an adult you just see through that shit cause you know no teens are THAT great. In that state she couldn't have been good influence-wise or other for the final group. We all know what happens when bad apples work their bad mojo in kpop groups. Recent case being AoA. But now I feel like I can root for her and that gives me a lot of hope for NiziU.

Nifuruc

If you ask me... Your evaluation for Rima was spot on this time. Of course JYP had to criticize her because her moves weren't as sharp and confident as they should be, but she did a good job overall. Rima is also very tense on stage but I really like this side of her. She probably doesn't like to have this image of a cool girl she obviously has because she speaks English, has famous parents and always wears stylish outfits. But she's just a goofy girl who wants to have fun. I love these girls way too much...

JANVIÉR

I did say stick to LetsKCulture/Rijisun full subs - guess I should’ve explained that they’re uncut compared to JYPE channel. Please refer to my dm’s for playlist links 👍🏼

Anonymous

I like Rima a lot! She does remind me of Chaeyoung too. Rima even did the same song as Chaeyoung did in 15+1.

awendt

well, i honestly think jihyo, jeongyeon, nayeon or chaeyoung will continue doing something in music after twice disband, I can honestly see any of them going solo

glassy99

I'd give Rima's performance a 9.5. I liked Chaeyoung's version of the song (from 15+1) more, it felt more high impact. I'd give Mako's performance here a 10.
