Hey Cultists!

Hope most of you are enjoying a holiday break, and getting some painting in! I have just finished a new miniature, and thanks to the holidays it took me around 2 weeks instead of the usual 4-6 for a miniature this size. The benefit is faster tutorials!

This is the first part, where I paint the skin. I really like the result, and combining brush layering with airbrush glazes has proved to be very effective for the time. From my video you will see my usual technique is to layer roughly then refine; this is the same way but using the airbrush a little more than usual. The result isn’t quite as good as pure brush work but it is a nice balance of time investment and result.

The paints I need up using are as follows:

Base

GW Knight Questor flesh

Highlights

Scale Artist (the pretentious toothpaste tube ones) light skin

Shadows and tones (all glazes)

GW Cadian Flesh

Vallejo Nocturna Reddish flesh 74.003

Vallejo Nocturna burned flesh 74.002

GW Barak-Nar Burgundy

GW Rhinox Hide

Some of these paints area little hard to come by. They are from the Nocturna models fairy flesh paint set. i do really like this set, so if you can get it easily I recommend picking it up. However you can easily make reddish flesh by using Bugmans glow with a little red added to it. Honestly there isn’t much in it so if you have Bugmans then just do that. Burned flesh is like Bugmans with a little more brown it in, Rhinox hide would work great.

Really interested to see what you think of this process. Was it easy to follow? Does it look easy or intimidating? My intention was to paint skin to my highest level but make it a reasonable process to use. I hope this has come across but would always appreciate your feedback.

You will have part 2 this week as well!

Thanks,

Andy

Highly recommend the Fairy Flesh paint set, some of the warmer darker tones are also really useful for different types of leathers and woods.
