ART - The Obscura (Patreon)

Here's something we've been planning on since MONOLIGHTER's conception. The switch between reality and an alternate view of reality, coined 'The Obscura'. Or hackervision, for those of us who prefer a more direct explanation.

In-universe, viewing the world of the Obscura is an ability exclusive to androids - and not all androids, either. To unlock your vision, you'll need to access some normally inaccessible files within Lensman's body, and upload some pretty illegal software. 

That's right - you've gotta find away to hack yourself.

Well, aside from being a pretty filter, there's two things the Obscura can do. One of these things is to allow you to see any and every major piece of electronic equipment. This includes hackable panels, machinery, and of course, androids. 

The more important thing it can do (at least, in terms of what'll be currently relevant to the player) is the ability to view hidden things. Hidden platforms, hidden items, and the hidden appearances of machines. Take a look at, for example, our cute Trash-chan:

Pretty adorable. But within the Obscura, she takes on a more comforting form:

Even cuter than before! So, the main reason for the Obscura at the moment, is its importance to finishing the second Mission. Hence why it's currently impossible to beat it. It's something we're hoping to do finish month, so look forward to it!
