This was not a direct parody of Star Wars. It was a parody of space dramas heavily influenced by Star Wars. The characters are no exactly interchangeable with any other space show. And it was not anti-Semitic. Mel Brooks had a habit of making fun of racists. He is, in fact, Jewish himself and wrote this movie. As well he played the president and yogurt.

I think there is a big difference between poking fun at stereotypes and being antisemitic or sexist. Mel Brooks often uses the ridiculousness of stereotypes as part of his humor and overcoming those stereotypes is part of character development and morals to his stories.

OMG Mary, you HAVE to do Blazing Saddles now! Just go into it with the foreknowledge that it was written by Mel Brookes and Richard Pryor (Brookes writing the Jewish jokes and Pryor the black jokes) and like all Brookes movies uses farce to parody and ridicule stereotypes and the people who traffic in them.
