I've really enjoyed this show personally. I can say that, although the tend towards darkness is somewhat consistent, the color palette for the rest of the show resembles something much closer to the last 5-10 minutes of that first episode (due to the primary location that they are shooting in). So it's a move from dark blues and greys to greens, dark browns, and blues. Outside of the color issue, I would say this show definitely owes a lot to the moral complexity and vibe of shows like Breaking Bad. So if you find that sort of thing annoying, Ozark might not hold up for you. I will say that it's also it's own thing in many ways, and that there are definitely a few really interesting characters. More than anything I think the show is probably known for its relentlessness - you might think the first episode was a firecracker, but the show doesn't let up in subsequent episodes. It's a pretty wild ride. I'd definitely be interested to see your take on it, but I also would hate for you to invest a bunch of time in something you don't enjoy.

i got up to season 4 of breaking bad. i think i stopped after walter killed jesse's gf... that rly pissed me off haha

Not a huge fan of this show myself, stopped after the first season. Had a similar reaction to Breaking Bad. I can see the quality, but the topics and the characters just don't appeal to me that much. Totally understand why other people love these shows, though.
