Hello! It's the end of 2020!

The big reason you've clicked onto this thread is probably the download, so let's get that out of the way up front. This is a huge .zip file that includes every regular release that I shared here on patreon this year:

Now, like I do every year, I want to look back over the year's releases and highlight some that stand out-- they aren't in any special order, and I try to pick different highlights for unique reasons or lessons learned:

2020 Patreon Release Highlights:

  • Animated Blocking Spikes (Link)

... and secret cave doors, and the more recent beartrap and buzzsaws.

These graphics stand out to me because of their function in a game. Traps, puzzles, and secrets are an important part of game interactivity that go beyond the usual characters and location tiles that I create in most releases. After all — what is a game if there's no interaction or danger?

Even mini horses and wagons for the world map.

At the beginning of the year, I created these little mini horses for use on the world map, shortly followed by miniature wagons to accompany them. Then over the course of the year, I worked on a series of similar many versions of the main Time Fantasy characters. This was a little sub-project that played out over the course of many weeks-- and I plan to continue and finish up the minis series in 2021.

It's no secret that Minecraft has inspired a lot of releases over the past couple of months, and there's no clearer example than these crafting workstations. They're even more useful because patrons have requested these for a long time now, and I think that the variety and types of different workstations will provide a lot of options for gameplay.

And even if they are not used for crafting mechanics in-game, the tiles make good decorations for memorable workshops or other locations in your world.

  • The Wolf Pack (Link)

The Wolf Pack was my Christmas gift this year, made as a public release accessible to everybody. I very rarely do full eight-directional animations (it's not necessary in most cases, at the small resolutions we use) -- but I thought that they were appropriate for the type of wolf bodies that we have here. With separate animations for walking vs running, and some extra poses for sitting and howling-- I'm really proud of how this little extra set came out!

2020 Pack Releases:

  • Sewer Tileset (Link)

This one was eventually included as a bonus in the Steampunk release, months after its original release here on Patreon.

  • Time Fantasy Faces (Link)

A long time in the making-- including a complete rehaul after a very ugly-looking original beta release... these were originally a goal reward and I was happy to finally release earlier this year.

  • Time Fantasy: Steampunk (Link)

Planned to be the last major release for the original Time Fantasy style, this was originally going to be a much smaller expansion that just kept getting bigger and bigger as I worked on it. In the end, it turned out to be a popular release that I'm very proud of-- and a lot of the pieces from this set will be able to serve as a bridge into the upcoming new style.

  • Time Fantasy: Fairy Forest (Link)

The Fairy Forest set was a major reward release for hitting the 3K milestone-- I tried to incorporate a lot of patron suggestions, as well as include tiles that would fill in some gaps from other releases, like more new types of trees and terrain. Really happy to be able to share these kinds of big sets as bonus downloads for patrons.

Looking forward...

New Style Preview threads: Characters, Tiles, Emotions

I'm not gonna say too much here, because I'm planning on having another preview thread for this stuff before the end of January. To put it briefly: in the past few months I've been slowly building up the base and animations and finalizing the color style for the new set-- so that in 2021 I can focus on pumping out the content itself.

I know I've been talking about this for a long time now, and I'm excited to really get going on it!

====== ======

Hard to believe that it's already been four years of this patreon. These past four years have been the most fulfilling and productive years of my life, because of this whole project! Looking forward to the next one.

See you soon :)

Thanks!

Do these yearly packs contain everything? So the only things I need to download are them to get everything or are some excluded (and how do I figure out which posts I need to download separately?)

The Hueshifter

Sadly, not all content is incluided and there is no way to know what is incluided or not, almost everything is tho
