Lokasenna and Scattered Updates (Patreon)

The golden aspen trees might clue you in that the video I posted today, with Lokasenna 1-11 read in Old Norse with English translation and commentary, is from a few months ago. I posted a lot of videos like this when I did stanza-by-stanza readthroughs of Vǫluspá, Grímnismál, Baldrs draumar, and Hávamál (and even re-did Hávamál after The Wanderer's Hávamál appeared!) and was kind of burned out by the crickets they got in response, so I've been slow to post this series.

But I ought to be fairer to you, the Patreon supporters who have often requested and patiently waited for exactly that kind of deep-dive content. In that spirit, let me offer you early access to the next two installments in this series that I've already made, over on my Vimeo channel: Lokasenna 12-20 and Lokasenna 21-25. That latter one is where Loki and Odin insult each other, which is complicated enough that those few stanzas deserve their own standalone look. 

Because I have to pay for it, and it's barely visited by anyone, I am not completely sold on keeping my backup Vimeo channel after 2020. But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Meanwhile, please note that Patreon messages are very broken right now. I don't always get notifications in my inbox for them, and I can tell that many of you have not gotten notifications when I've sent you one over the past month. By the way, I have some new information from my publisher, Hackett, suggesting that my fourth book, with my translations of The Saga of Hervor and Heidrek and The Saga of Hrolf Kraki, will probably be published finally in fall of 2021.
