I am back for now from the wilds. I did see some wolves and bears--and just about every other animal you can find in the high northern Rockies--though not necessarily close enough to get good footage. I tried posting a Lens video last week with a brief clip of a wolf chasing an elk filmed through a scope by my friend Barb Heinze but that was about the best we could do without lugging around (not to mention buying) fancy cameras. I still film and edit all of my videos with just the iPhone in my pocket, something I realize surprises some viewers!

Because I never had more than a few moments of internet access for the last week, I'm well behind on messages here, and I missed the "Words of the Week" post for the first week that I can remember since I started doing them. So here is this week's, recorded before I left last week (so it refers to last week as next week). It discusses the runes for the vocabulary in the next Old Norse lesson, no 16, on the preterite-present verbs

This is the first time, and I think the only possible time, that I'm reusing an old video for this new lesson series. I can't remember now why I recorded this detailed video about the preterite-present verbs in fall 2018 (that seems like two decades ago). But it fits so well in with the current series that I'm just importing it as a new installment in that series.

I hope you all are well, and I appreciate your continued support!

All the best,

Dr. Jackson Crawford

And of course a hard copy of that 'Norrønt Grammatikk' is impossible to find :'( I wonder how many of the older books aren't out there. You search old novels from the late 1800s and early 1900s and you find them for a cheap price in Abebooks. But sagas specially in Old Norse like the editions you may find in Heimskringla.no? Almost impossible.
