This Saturday, at 4:00 p.m. my time (U.S. Mountain time; the link above ought to show you the time in your local timezone), I've arranged to have a Crowdcast for you with guest Taylor Budde, a Ph.D. student in the Department of German and Slavic at the University of Colorado Boulder. Budde has research interests in the varied expressions of the Volsung tradition in medieval German and Scandinavian literature, as well as its influence on literature in recent centuries. He also had the unusual "distinction" of serving as a my Teaching Assistant in several classes at the University of Colorado Boulder. Come with your questions or remarks about matters related to Volsungs/the Nibelunglied, or even Django Unchained (which Budde has pointed to as kind of a "stealth" Volsungs remake), or potentially even about what grad school's like today or what it's like to be my T.A. (I'm sure he has thoughts on that, some of which might even be airable in decent company). Crowdcasts are limited to 50 seats, so register today if you can make it and I'll hope to see you there!

All the best,

Jackson Crawford

Looking forward to this, Doctor! Thank you.

I was thinking that perhaps I should hang back and not join the crowdcast since I'm not likely to be going to grad school. But I see that there are still slots open and I do enjoy these conversations. I confess I'm rather a low-brow coming to this discussion; when I was listening to the Saga of the Volsungs, the scene of Sigmund carrying Sinfjoli's corpse brought to my mind the image of Elmer carrying Bugs while singing "I killed the Wabbit".

If you look at previous Crowdcasts, a lot of my own questions are pretty "low-brow"! It's not a big deal at all.
