This interview is condensed to the point that it doesn’t really sound like me, but I’m flattered nonetheless.

Our Viking-Cowboy YouTube Star

Jackson Crawford, director of CU's Nordic Studies program, studies and translates Old Norse, a language spoken by medieval Scandinavians. Here the native Coloradan talks Vikings, videos and his contribution to the Disney animated film Frozen. What is the context of the literature you study? The stuff that I'm looking at is roughly 1,000 years old.

Pretty fine interview, considering it's condensed. :) My one qualm with it is the use of "YouTube Star" (ughhh!) not because you don't deserve recognition and praise for your work (you absolutely do!), but because that term rather makes me think of all those YouTubers in California that are (in essence) Internet-famous for Having An Opinion, whereas your channel is indeed different from all that, because the high quality content of your videos comes via your specialized knowledge of historical linguistics, Norse mythology, etc. More importantly, your videos are more like "This is what is known from the sagas etc. Make of it what you will..." and less "I have an agenda, let me tell you how to interpret this..." and I know most people really appreciate it. I genuinely don't mind opinions and interpretations as they can be good for interesting discussions, but at the end of the day it sure is nice to have them be grounded in the knowledge of various fields of study. Ha, I went on a rant there, but seriously, "YouTube Viking-Cowboy" (or Viking-Cowboy YouTuber) is much more suitable as a descriptor. :D
