I'm getting a lot of requests for this again, so let me just post a reminder that in 2017 I did translate the whole prayer from The Thirteenth Warrior ("Lo there do I see... ...in the halls of Valhalla, where the brave shall live forever") here. That's based on something the Arabic writer Ahmed Ibn Fadlan overheard, which I translated into Old Norse in the original form he reported here.

Hah, love the timing! I just finished rereading Eaters of the Dead over the weekend (the book from which the movie was made). :)

My husband brought home a Kestral hawk when we lived in San Diego. It was injured. We gave it to a wildlife rehabilitation place, and after they cured it’s injury, they called him and asked him to release it where he had found it. I’ll never forget how small and fierce that little bird looked, and how strongly he held his ground when approached.
