Hello, fairly new Patreon here. Going through your archives the last few weeks, it seems your views on a lot of characters and plots/subplots tend to align with my own, which has been both surprising and interesting. (Dexter, Buffy, The Vampire Diaries, and Criminal Minds primarily.) Anyway, it has been several years since I've had the pleasure of watching the early years of Criminal Minds, and now that I've caught up to where you're currently watching, I can settle in to the journey. Emily (the "new girl") took some time to grow on me, as I recall, so maybe she will with you as well. Or not, and that's fine, too, LOL. At this point in the series, Derek Morgan and Spencer Reid are my favorites, with Penelope Garcia rising up as well, mainly because she's so different from the FBI profilers in personality, like she doesn't quite fit but is yet indispensible. When it comes to police procedural type shows, I very much prefer the case-of-the-week with serial killers and similar villains, and sometimes the longer-running cases that aren't wrapped up neatly in one episode. I don't care for diving too far into the characters' personal lives, beyond a dip here and there, and I always hate when they go into romantic subplots. Which, fortunately, they have not done here with any depth, and I don't recall if they ever do or not (nor would I tell you if I did remember as I wouldn't want to spoil anything). Law and Order: SVU and the CSI shows (especially CSI: NY and Without a Trace) have been my favorites along with Criminal Minds. They mostly stay on track with the cases, which are usually quite interesting. The reason that Criminal Minds has such compelling episodes is that they often are based on REAL crime stories and killers, which gives them a chilling layer of complexity and realism.

Yeah I remember liking Prentess but I also wasn’t an Elle fan but when I started the show she was already part of the show. I used to watch it with my grandfather so I never watched in order till recently. But they didn’t even make it seem like she’s as smart as Reid (no one is) they just said she knew Arabic and everyone on the team has things they might know better. She is a strong personality and so is Hotch but I hope you come around to her. My favorite characters are Reid and Garcia so I’m just happy that you’re not hating on her anymore.
