Yeah, so the key to the guy who killed the undercover cop not being the unsub was when Gideon asked "is that why you stabbed him in the groin?" The priest wasn't stabbed in the groin. He was stabbed in the ear like the others. It was a trick question. So, that's how they knew it wasn't him. The title "Real Rain" comes from the Taxi Driver quote that they mentioned in the episode. That a "real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets." Taxi Driver is a vigilante film (I've never seen it and just learned this recently). The reporter used that quote in his story about this killer.
