This show always amazes me because the characters you find the most interesting at the start of the series, the ones you are expected to root for, frequently end up with the uninteresting storylines and they may even leave you wanting them to fail instead, and then--the characters you think you're going to hate, the ones you *should* hate, end up having the most character growth, layers, and interesting storylines. I find that so interesting.

the showrunners of gossip girl are the same as the oc and chuck, so I would argue they know how to write good female characters (hence Sarah Walker and Summer Roberts), but I think Gossip Girl really sucks at making anything stick. I would argue all characters here are not incredibly well-written, but yes Serena especially.

It's amazing how Serena just sucks so badly but Blake Lively is the embodiment of perfection. I don't know who to root for in this show. I don't know if anyone should root for anyone in this show 😬😵‍💫😵‍💫
