again not the best episode, the next two are probably even worse esp. in preachy department. But I've decided we keep hanging in because in three episodes the show starts to get actually good. maybe Steven can do so emails during the next couple ones .... ;)

I wouldn't call the show preachy... it's just showing a very authentic reality of what would happen if you stick a new york city liberal doctor in a conservative small town in America. That's most of the major plot lines of the early seasons. Unfortunately, a lot of small towns are like this and the people are very closed minded and old fashioned to a dangerous degree. Yes, a lot of real issues are discussed here and there's a lot of self righteousness to it when the actors go off. Lots of speeches, but the show was very good about starting discussions about things that still get argued about today.
