that's wild I've never really heard someone say that Liv is not likable lmfaoo maybe at certain points but definitely not at the start but I do understand why you would say that. Love this show though it's soooo good. While it is a procedural there actually is great central plot and storyline.

The extremely short first season of Scandal is very procedural except for the story about the girl. They make some changes with season 2 and then it became the hit show. I remember having some of the same issues you did with season 1 and was very glad I gave it another chance with season 2

I never really liked the first season of Scandal tbh and I think I had the same reservations as you. What was groundbreaking at the time is that Kerry Washington was the first black woman to lead a primetime drama in over 40 years. She was also a woman in a position of power and for Scandal’s many many problems, I do think it was an important step forward for creating more interesting roles for black women on television. I personally think Liv IS likable, but she doesn’t need to be a saint to be effective. She’s the messy black woman anti-hero of our dreams! I have more to say about her relationship with the president, but don’t want to get into spoilery territory, but I’m under the impression that people appreciated that a powerful black woman was shown as desirable and loved by a powerful white man, as black love interests with white men do tend to be continuously disrespected. Saying all this, I hate Fitz’s guts anyway lol
