OMG. Billy Miles does look like Bill Hader. lol. This show is so important because it influenced and inspired countless other shows and also had a writing staff that included some of the biggest showrunners since, most notably, Vince Gilligan the creator of Breaking Bad. Good catch recognizing Gillian Anderson from Sex Ed. And also, very observant about the score. Mark Snow is the composer for this show and his style for this was very distinctive. I could pick his stuff out from a room away. The show is a combination of serialized and procedural. It's where the term Monster of the Week comes from. So, some are procedural but then some follow an overall story. Another fun fact, this show is also the origin of the term to "ship" a couple. Fans on early internet message boards called themselves "shippers" if they wanted romantic tension between the leads.

Glad you enjoyed this! The score is creepy!

What I love about the X-files is that it's (mostly) an intelligent show with intelligent protagonists. Mulder and Scully are super smart and have fantastic chemistry as they bicker back and forth from the believer vs sceptic POVs. Since you've enjoyed this you'll probably dig the rest of the series. I know you all have a lot on your plate now but maybe one day!
