The show really holds its own without michael. writers are absolutely superb in this show, and the established character really do their thing

I agree with you! People love to hate the last 2 seasons but they're so underrated. All the other characters finally got the attention and screentime they deserved. Season 9 is one of my favorites.

I've never really seen anyone say that they're actually 'bad', just that they're not quite as good which is plenty true enough. The comedy held up pretty well but the serious subplots really really fell off pretty much until the series finale. Andy and Erin were never all that interesting as a couple in any serious context.
