I don't think what Harvey or Rachel did was pointless even if neither of their plans worked out in the end. It just showed different ways of them standing by Mike. And we needed that to know that Mike will be okay with going to prison at the end of the episode. This is one of my absolute favorite episodes of the show bc all of their loyalties were tested to the core and they all still stood with each other, which is what Suits is all about. Where does the show go from here - some interesting places that's for sure.

Yep, watching this and feeling that "nothing really happened" is so strange. I would have hated if they somehow wriggled their way out of Mike going to prison after the weight of the decision. It seemed he was disappointed to find out the show was sticking to it, very strange in my opinion but hey everyone's different.

I agree. From the moment Mike was arrested and found out I knew it had to end with him taking the fall. It doesn’t really matter if there was a chance to get away with it or not, Mike had to take responsibility for that, it’s who he is. It’s why we love him, he’s not perfect but he owns the things he does and he is super loyal. He couldn’t stand even the chance of anyone else suffering from what he did - and him getting a not-guilty-verdict was a huge gamble to begin with. Also, I feel like storywise nothing else besides Mike taking full responsibility would’ve worked. This was five seasons in the making. Every other choice would’ve felt extremely out of character for Mike.
