Richard and Emily. I really really can't stand them. Because Rory didn't spend 16/17 years growing up with them, she doesn't understand. Especially since Loreli rarely took Rory to interact with them once she left. So Rory doesn't understand how controlling and manipulative Emily and Richard are. She wants to have these grand parents who have basically show their best face to her. And now we see the real Emily and Richard showing up more and more.

Honestly? Dean got his as far as I'm concerned. He treated Lindsey HORRIBLY! She like Rory at times in s1&2 seemed scared of him. He's very emotionally and verbally abusive (not saying Rory wasn't bad to him!) but here, dumping her in front of people she goes to school with was just humiliating. Lindsey for sure deserves way better than a guy who cheats then has the nerve to yell in her face because she dared to answer his phone. TJ....I find him funny at times but my God read the room dude! You do not barge (and you absolutely barged!) into someone's apartment when they are very obviously having a date and just sit on the bed like a weirdo! I wish we saw more of Luke making the fancy food. I think he knows that as good as it is, it's not really "small-town diner" kind of food. I'd of liked him to maybe expand his business and have another restaurant that serves the more fancy food, but I doubt he'd do that. Emily and Richard are hit and miss for me throughout this series. There are times when I really feel for them, but shit like this is when I absolutely hate them. They complain that they are kept out of the girls private lives, but then when they are told shit they pull a stunt like this? The whole thing was weird and creepy as all hell! They basically pimped their Granddaughter out for a future husband! Gross! Love or hate Logan, he really saved the night here! He was just being a friend which is what she needs. I think while he's probably attracted to Rory, he's not looking for a girlfriend. Finn (and Colin to a lesser extent) are hilarious! Loved Lane this episode and as out of line as it was, Mrs Kim yelling at Zack was so funny! He looked traumatized by the end! XD Can't wait for the next one!

I hate that Rory never listens to her mom and brushes her off as being over-dramatic or paranoid. Lorelai has had this for a large portion of her life. She knows them inside and out and has never, not once! been wrong about their true intentions. She tries to warn Rory, protect her the way she wasn't protected from this emotional manipulation and control and every single time she's ignored.

I liked their break up..we have seen for the last few episodes how they don't really fit in each other's lives and I think they both realise Rory has outgrown dean. And I actually like that Rory is experiencing new things and new people in college and is growing

While I concur that the show's handling of the breakup was substandard, a part of me thinks it was very on-brand for Dean. Dean seeing Rory with her rich Yale friends probably reaffirmed his internal fear that Rory is too good for him. Therefore, it does make thematic sense that Dean was chagrined when his rich girlfriend emerged from a mansion, covered in diamonds, with a gaggle of obviously well-off, Yale men in tow. On a parallel note, the writer's decision to conjoin Rory and Logan's independent storyline with that of her WASP grandparents' prior connection to Logan's family is apropos.

Chuck Bass

I agree. Most people learn what they like or dislike through their own personal experiences, and at this moment, Rory is experiencing what life is like for the privileged and well-educated.

I'm so with you on hating Richard and Emily. The level of entitlement and arrogance always infuriated me I truly hate these kind of people. But also we have to remember they are paying for Rory's college and its a lot of money. So, if she wants to stay at Yale she literally cant cancel Friday night dinners. I think it's a shitty situation especially because these are her grandparents, and she just wants to see the best in them.

I think sometimes in life there are so many signs of "this won't work" before a break-up that the actual break-up is not that big of a deal anymore. This applies to Rory and Dean here in my opinion. There were signs all over the place that he didn't belong in the life that Rory built anymore. I also really like the contrast on how Dean and Logan reacted to Rory's article. With Dean Rory had to bring it up and he had no specific opinion about it whereas Logan brought it up himself and told her in specific detail why it was good or what could be improved. I think Rory needs that intellectual stimulation and Dean clearly can't provide that for her.

PamPam and her PamPams

I am so tired of Rory and Dean, they're better off as friends and it's obvious that she needs somebody else in her life now that she's at Yale and as weird as it is, but only the grandparents understand it. We saw it with the way Dean talked about her article, he couldn't say one thing about it. While Logan said all the right things she needed to hear. I will say it again, Dean is absolutely unfit for her and he constantly holds her back, he was an okay first boyfriend but that should have been it. I get that he ended his marriage for this but he treated Lindsay terribly anyway and it's not like Rory seduced him, he was the one who ruined his marriage. And this the second time he breaks up with her in front of other people, I mean wtf? Of course the way the grandparents manipulate Rory at times sucks, but all they really did was make her hang out with some other guys, they didn't make Dean break up with her or marry her off. I understand that it's none of their business, but Lorelai is not enough Mother to Rory imo, she always wants to be the friend, so as long as Rory is happy in her relationship, she's okay with it, sometimes she even lies which is so dumb, she wasn't happy with them getting back together but she kept it to herself. Being supportive is great, but sometimes your kids need a little push to do better and reach for more. Even Dean got it in the end. I don't think Rory would have broken up with him anytime soon, he's comfortable and familiar, so she would have been stuck in a comfortable but underwhelming relationship with her high school bf. I don't see this party as so bad, the grandparents have done worse shit than this. I get mad at them a lot too and the way they do things is often insane but I always understand where they're coming from more or less.

I was so disinterested in Dean at this point in the story that I was pretty much satisfied to see him just slink off quietly.

Mrs Kim is entertaning to me, and Liz and tj aswell! Always make me laugh!

neither dean or jess are good guys imo and neither is right for rory. all of her relationships were pretty toxic for different reasons tbh.

Am I the only one who didn’t have a problem with anything that Rory or Logan and the gang of guys did?? Like to me they are being her friends. Logan was being nice. I like Logan, yeah he’s rich and he knows it but I don’t think he’s a bad person. He seems like he is aware of how stupid all these parties are but he goes along with it bc he is expected to. Having the sub party is his little version of rebellion

Lorelei and Rory can eat four Thanksgiving dinners, but they can't eat one meal after appetizers. LMAO
