Also cool to see you with your brother on this one as well, this is definitely one of those shows where exciting stuff is happening almost every single minute and in my opinion, is way more fun to watch with others. you guys are right, this episode was setting up a lot of stuff .. the world, the dynamics between everybody .. but trust me there is a looooot more to come ;)

The ringing with the picture on the wall, a couple of times before he blows up translucent, was the trauma/ptsd from being covered in blood at the side of the road. It is slowly building over time, and the reason why he eventually goes over the edge and can kill Translucent.

So glad you're doing this together! A fun fact: in the comics Hughie was based on actor Simon Pegg. As the actor was older when the show came out, they asked him to play Hughie's dad!

Lol the thing about the secret identities being bad is the show making fun of that trope in superhero movies like with superman just putting on glasses and lois can't recognize him. This show plays into the old tropes a lot which i think is done well

Too bad the dark humor is lost on you
