The song at the end with the Doctor's story is one of my favorite scenes in the whole series

Yes! the doctor had a granddaughter, Susan Foreman. She is in a way, the doctor's OG companion. I would highly recommend you watching the very first Doctor Who episode "An Earthly Child". It's such great experience of being a whovian.

When I first saw this ep, I thought it was kinda boring? (ofc until the doctor's amazing monologue). But upon alot of rewatches, it did kinda reminded me the beginning of RTD's era with the 9th Doctor and Rose. And I loved it since then!

Basically, the Doctor fed the god-parasite his memories and that filled him up. But what set him to explode was Clara's leaf. The reason it was the tipping point was that it was tied to Clara's history through how her parents met but when he mom died, that leaf now had a full history of what never was. An infinity of days and memories that would never be. Think of it as pancakes. You eat about 5-6 of them and you are feeling stuffed and can't eat anymore, in fact you feel kind of sick...then someone comes and feeds you waffles but it's an infinity amount of waffles...well you are already full and if you have more you will pop. It's the same thing with what happened here. Funfact, Clara's mom died the same day that "Rose" premiered. A headcanon is that she died during the Autons attack in the first episode. The Doctor's granddaughter's name is Susan, she actually is the person who came up with the name "TARDIS" and she traveled with the first doctor. This episode was slow, but I really enjoyed it because it wasn't a fastpaced action-y episode, but was one that had you get to know Clara, but it's also Clara getting to know the Doctor. He is willing to sacrifice himself for the people and that they don't walk away.

Great reaction, the Doctors speech with the singing in the background gives me chills every time I see it

The Doctor’s Granddaughter was his first companion, Susan. First seen with the 1st Doctor back in 1963.

I really enjoyed this episode. The music in this episode was incredible. The Doctor's speech is probably one of the best scenes in the new who universe. Actually, it might be the best scene in the series. Matt Smith's acting in that scene is absolutely incredible. In the new who universe, he will always be my favorite doctor. He has that ancient look about him that the other doctors seemed to be lacking. Loved this episode and loved your reaction to it!

His grand daughter was Susan, the first and original companion from the first ever episode in 1963 in classic Who 👍🏼
