To answer one of your questions the first season occurs early November 1983. I think you were looking down when they showed the date in the first episode. I’m really liking your reactions. Nothing better then seeing someone that knows nothing about this show trying to figure things out.

Yes it is indeed set in the early 80s. It was supposed to remind people of movies like E.T. and The Goonies and Stand By Me.
