I think Eleanor lied so that her friends wouldn't feel the guilt of condemning her to the bad place when she had passed. As for Jason, he failed by playing the game. Even though he didn't want to score on his beloved Jacksonville Jaguars, he wanted to play Madden so much that he told the judge to F off and started playing. No impulse control. he sought momentary pleasure at the cost of something he cared about.

This is one of my favorite episodes actually. For me, it is more like 9-10 rating. I think this episode shows the fundamental conflict each character has. Eleanor's main issue was selfishness. She always thought about herself. She has had the most growth because she actually cares about Chidi. The other three haven't been force to deal with their issues as much so it makes sense why they didn't pass.

For chidi it is not just picking a hat, he is a philosofer, so his brain always looks for deeper meaning, hidden consequences and cares about doing the right thing. It makes him see things that others don’t but it also makes the everyday life hard for him.,

I'll be back in a couple of episodes to check if he's gotten over this "something's still up, something seems off" phase. It's just annoying watching someone miss the flow of a story cause they're waiting for a bump or 180.

The final season is now on Netflix so I finally got to finish. I really enjoyed it. Enjoy the ride David.
