The next couple of episodes are among my favorites of early smallville, looking forward to it.

Regarding the adoption and not spoilering: When Superman was created in 1938 there was no adoption problem with the state. Same is true for Superman the movie. There, Clark/Supes is roughly 30 in 1977 so supposedly arrived on Earth ca. 1950. Like Ma Kent said there they could just claim that he's her cousin's son from out of state. Records weren't that tight, especially in the countryside. But Smallville-Clark landed on Earth in 1989 when he was three years old. For this modern adoption to work, you need some kind of papertrail to prove that a child actually was born in 1986 and didn't just appear out of thin air.

I liked the Rashomon nature of the club flash backs and the general theme of "you can't escape your past". I agree the fry cook double was a bit of a let down but I'm not sure how it could have been done better without suddenly springing up meteor powers, which I think would have been jarring. I like that there are no meteor powers in this one. I remember watching this episode ages ago and being like "Wow, that's a club is like!" lol . This episode definitely make me like Lex more.
