Paul Rudd really doesn't age.

"Is Christian.... playing for both teams?" lmao. That had me laughing for a minute

A few thoughts. 1. Alicia Silverstone has been in a lot. Prior to this she was the girl from the Aerosmith videos. 2. I recently learned that they originally wanted Jerry Orbach aka Baby’s dad to play Cher’s father but he was unavailable because of his Law and Order schedule. 3. This movie was over the top 90s even in the 90s that was part of the humor at the time. And 4. While 10 Things I Hate About you is a loose adaptation of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew and Bridget Jones Diary is inspired by Pride and Prejudice, Clueless is actually a surprisingly faithful adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma. Here’s a link to the Cliffsnotes 😉 for that book if you are curious https://www.cliffsnotes.com/literature/e/emma/book-summary

This movie make me smile every time- love watching someone experience it for the first time.

Emma is one of my favorite Austin books. I think this is the best modern retailing of classic literature I have ever seen. I loved that you picked up that many phrases and idiosyncrasies were very 90’s. Interestingly, one of the reasons these quarks were ubiquitous in the 90’s is because of this move. I was too young to see it when it came out but the catch phrases still caught on with me and my classmates’ years before we ever saw it.

Can anyone see that the upload is 59 minutes, not the whole movie? Is it just me??

DougRaw

Not sure which link you're using but, at the very least for the dropbox one its the full movie. It does stop at the one hour mark if you're not logged in I think? Otherwise you can always just download the whole thing using the button at the top right, and just delete it from your computer after

Clueless is great silly fun. I always enjoy it when I watch it. Alicia Silverstone was in a few movies and a couple of music videos around that time. I like her in Crush and Excess Baggage too. Have you ever seen The Princess Bride, Heather or Sleepless in Seattle?

This brought back so many memories from my childhood, Queen Cher will always iconic ❤️ also everytime I rewatch this I instantly get so sad because I realize how much I miss seeing Brittany Murphy on my screen 🥺

This movie is such a glorious 90's time capsule! 😂 My favorite adaptation of my favorite Jane Austen novel ("Emma"). It's funny to me that you compared it to "10 Things I Hate About You," as that was also a teenage rom-com based on a classic piece of literature. That was a common thing in the mid-late '90's, and I kinda miss that trend, tbh. Though I definitely prefer "Clueless" over "10 Things" myself, as it's just more iconic to me. Also, if you don't recognize Alicia Silverstone from those other movies commenters have mentioned, then I guess it's worth pointing out her other most iconic (for totally different reasons lol) role from the 90's: Batgirl, in "Batman & Robin." Never forget! (though she probably wishes you would) Also, seeing you try to place Wallace Shawn (Mr. Hall/Bob's boss from The Incredibles), I 2nd the recommendation of "The Princess Bride" if you haven't seen that one!

Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed this, also brought us the classic 80s film "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and the tv show "Square Pegs" (starring a teenage Sarah Jessica Parker). The gym teacher is played by Julie Brown who had an MTV show called "Just Say Julie" and an album called Trapped in the Body of a White Girl. Which features the song "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun". She also had a few HBO comedy specials and cowrote Camp Rock.

Others mentioned it above that this is a modern adaption of Jane Austen’s Emma (one of my favorite books). There was a new adaption of Emma that can out in February - this was super faithful to the book material and so full of vibrant color - would love to see you react to this as well and compare the two!!!

Loved the reaction. I love Cher's character (which is Emma from Jane Austen). She's a lovable self-centered person that goes through a lot of character development and overall has a great heart. Little background info: Alicia Silverstone really didn't know how to pronounce "Haitians" and actually mispronounced it that way and no one told her because it was such a Cher thing.

I don’t know if you have seen fried green tomatoes, but it is a wonderful movie that I think most people would enjoy!

I was like 12 when this came out so I didn't get realize how many drug jokes were in this movie. It was hilarious at the time that they all had cellphones because that was such a rich spoiled person thing. It's funny watching this now and realizing most kids wouldn't get the phone jokes.

Clueless is actually an adaptation of a 19th century novel called Emma which ties into alot of socioeconomic ideas like class and the role of women in society. If you watch the subsequent adaptation made a few years after this with Gweneth Paltrow alot of the themes become more apparent. They even do a good job of it in this movie but due to the timeframe it almost blends into the background where it doesn't in Emma since it's easier to pick out in a period drama than it is when the setting is the 1990s. Check it out and you'll see the similarities.
