Heidi Elizabeth Marcum

I give this episode and 8. It's pretty good. :) As for Shaw's coming storyline and why the show has taken her away from the team... it's because Sarah Shahi was pregnant at the time this season was filming, and Sarah Shahi needed time away from the show for her baby, but she also didn't want to be killed off or written off of the show because she loved playing the role of Sameen Shaw and wanted to return to playing Shaw at some point, in some ways that she is able to do. Which is great! :)

I love Root in this episode... How far she is willing to go... so badass! Also, personally, I feel like if they didn't show Shaw at the end and she appears later in the series, then it's a bit cliché.

I really love this episode, personally would've loved even more stuff with the town, but all of this episode is great nonetheless (really enjoy the Fusco stuff as well). I also agree that revealing Shaw later in the season would've been better, but I feel like they showed that Shaw was alive to appease the fans in the sense that this show had a really erratic airing schedule (CBS didn't own full rights of the show so even though it had pretty massive ratings in the first 3 seasons, they changed time slots and aired it really strangely). Despite just being 2 episodes after, this episode came out a full month after If-Then-Else (and episode 10 was the mid-season finale and came out 3 weeks before If-Then-Else), I do think if this were a streaming series they definitely would've revealed it later.

People may be interested in this hilarious article by someone who's never seen Person of Interest before and this episode just happens to be the first one they see (sounds like they watched CBS for a week for the article and it was just coincidence this was the episode that was on): http://grantland.com/hollywood-prospectus/cbs-week-viewing-diary-day-3-sean-hayes-the-ghost-of-maya-rudolph-and-person-of-mothering-interest/ - Imagine watching this episode with absolutely no clue about what was going on but he seemed to enjoy it lol. As for me, I think it's okay but it suffers I think from following on from two incredibly good episodes.

Ghost Mom

I really love how fuscos storyline in this episode is the equivalent of him grieving for Shaw, and sadly the rest of team machine are all too busy to clue in that Fusco is having a difficult time with it too. Remember Shaw saved his sons life and while they may have butt heads, he had a very deep respect for her.

Love this episode but I do have a problem with Root and Reese taking things too far with that lady. I understand they are angry, but Samaritan ruined her life too, and not all people are as brave and knowing as our heroes. I do agree with Finch on everything he said. I did with that congressman, and I do agree with him now. I hope she was ok in the end because her story actually got to me in a way. Besides that Shaw is alive YEY. We'll have to see what happens next. Till next time.

The ending, with Finch and Root looking up to the camera (as if looking to the sky), begging the Machine to help them, is an amazing religious symbol. Root is praying to God, and having a crisis of faith. Amy Acker is just so, so good. As for Westworld, the first season is actually even BETTER than this, in terms of the performances, the writing, and the philosophy - it's one of the best seasons of television ever created. As a director, having the ability to say "just put a close up on Anthony Hopkins here and let him do his thing" is essentially a cheat code. However, the following seasons are not up to snuff. On the whole, I think POI is the stronger show. It maintained its high level for a longer period.

I think they showed Shaw alive because they didn't want people to give up on the show.
