It's Nina Myers!

I was waiting for this one! Probably my second favorite episode from Season 1.

I live in a different part of the world from you and didn't realise that the opening theme I grew up with isn't the same as yours until you mentioned it. Did a quick search and found out there's 3 of them. Also enjoying your reactions to this show.

Really? House is talking to a human being that's afraid and in pain and he can help her NOT DIE. He will decided if she continues to wake up every morning and exist. No job is worth a human life. How would you go on working, knowing that you traded your job for somebody's child or sister or loved one? She doesn't have to be special for House to believe she should continue living.

Miah

Exactly! While House can definitely be an asshole, he is certainly consistent on his desire to always solve the case and save the patient.

MarkyO

This ain't even the original House theme.

MichaelB

He didn't do it because of who she was, he did because of the system that would have deemed her life not worth saving due to her issues. He would have done the same for any patient, as long as they wanted to live which is why he confronted her. And not everyone has a standard temperature. Mine is at the very bottom of the range, slightly below normal in some scales, at 36.2 degrees.

I love his intro and I like their little walk at the end of it. But also when it’s about to start I’m expecting the other ones that show up in later seasons.

I see there have been other answers to why he risked his job and another persons transplant spot but to me it had to do with the similarities between them. Work was basically all she had, just like him. The things he wrote on the whiteboard I almost thought might have been just as much about him. "Withholds Pain" and "Control" for sure sound like him, especially in the episode where he tried hiding how badly he needed the pills. "Shame" didn't stand out to me as fitting him much but then again he always puts up a front so who knows. The fact that she came in with a leg pain that one of the colleagues mentioned could be caused by whatever happened to him and his leg is what made me think they were similar and he might have 'bonded' with that.

I think your explanation in this and the other post misses that this is not completely how it works in other countries, and doctors absolutely do not like it this way. You having little to no medical chance of surviving, and things like that, are of course legitimate and unfortunate decisions to make with transplants. Deciding who is the better person between them, who "earns" it because of their life and even worse mental state in the sort of circumstances in the show, is absolutely repulsive to doctors (family doctors, not me I went biomed instead though). So if any doctor could do this not just House, they would - it is very much also a commentary on this. The things he wrote on the whiteboard were this episodes clicking moment when he realises something.

great reaction, i love this episode, it's a 9 for me, and as far as the Theme of this and of Suits i love the Suits theme very much but i know it's not for everyone, also the House theme is a actual song, a very good one it's Massive Attack-Tear Drop

Jason Usher

also House risked it for the patient just to save her, he loves solving mysteries to save people

Jordan

yeah house reason for taking that risk was as simple as that, "you're my patient" call me naive but house see his care providing as a sacred trust whether he admits it ir not, despite how he acts he care very deeply for the sake of his patients and if prepared to break any rules for them. He sees himself as responsie for his patients and that loyalty is more important to House than loyalty to his boss, the rules, the law, ethics.so on and so on. thats why he'll go to extrme lengths if he believes its best for his patient.
