WarGames is another classic from that era! - Would you like to play a nice game of chess?

This is an excellent movie, and I think in the 80s, when it dropped, we were floored that a movie actually dealt with kids who were genuinely stressed out about real things. It hit hard the year it came out. Quotes were everywhere, everyone debated whether or not it was good that Allison got the makeover (I come down on the side of it--for one thing, it's the way Claire knew to offer kindness; for another, her previous look wasn't some kind of statement of self-knowledge... it was how she hid from the world).

Great reaction! The Breakfast Club is one of my all time favorites and I’m glad you enjoyed it! As for another movie you might enjoy, I’d like to suggest Ferris Beuller’s Day Off. I think you’d be pleasantly surprised. Thanks for another awesome reaction!

Darius.

I was bummed too when Brian didn't have anyone, relationship-wise; however, at least the Movie started & ended with His Narration. This is a little off topic, but since we're on the subject of great movies - If you haven't already, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (2004), check it out.

This is my absolute favorite movie. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched it and it still makes me laugh, cry, cringe a little. Another one that goes extreme for the social differences in high school is Heathers with Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. It’s a bit of a dark comedy and would be interesting to see your thoughts.

my name is allison and i was definitely the basket case. i also share a birthday with judd nelson who i had a huge crush on so it’s fair to say i almost have a weird personal connection to this movie. Fantastic film. I will always love it.

colton

Heathers is definitely an acquired taste lol. seeing as he didnt like shaun of the dead idk how much he’d enjoy it but winona and christian slater are the two most attractive people who came put of the 80s in my opinion and i love heathers.

colton

that movie is stunning! I love michael gondry.

i beg for GHOSTBUSTERS NEXT

Winona was the girl I wanted to be growing up and Christian was the bad boy I wanted to marry, lol. I didn’t finish his Shaun of the Dead reaction unfortunately. Maybe it’ll take a few more reactions to get British humor and dark comedies.

I believe TIna Fey said that "Mean Girls" was the soft side of Heathers, or something along that line. :D It's VERY dark comedy, for extreme 80s fans. Or, you know, Stranger Things Winona fans. ;p Personally, I'd go for "Stand By Me" first. Ease your way up to Heathers levels of cynicism...

Teresina

I love Heathers and dark comedies, but a lot of people don’t. A lot of people need clear cut heroes they can root for in stories, and an overall “good message”.

Teresina

Have you seen Beetlejuice?

Teresina

This is a must see! There are so many references in other things to Ferris Bueller. It’s a pop culture gold mine.

DaphneQueen

Yaaas! Eternal Sunshine is one of my favorites! I was actually thinking of checking it out by myself again!!

Fizzy

The Breakfast Club is a classic movie. I actually haven’t seen it in a few years, so I was relearning some things with you. Thank you so much for this reaction!

Crystal Laherrere

Teresina I find that I love movies so much that I can adjust to the genre very easily. If it’s a superhero film my moral code is as high as theirs and if it’s an action flick or dark comedy that moral code can diminish so I can still root for somebody, lol.
