This is one of my favorite season 1 episodes! I loved both mashups. It’s My Life/Confessions is honestly one of the most underrated mashups of the whole show. It’s really good. I liked the Terri/Emma/Will plot too. Terri’s character is batshit insane, but I think the actress Jessalyn Gilsig does a great job portraying her. The fact that this episode only had two songs and was still entertaining as hell just shows how strong it was.

Schuster split the group into two arbitrary teams to build a competition. He used a generic criteria to do this. He could have also used eye color. This wasn't a pick-your-buddies type of situation.

what if one of the students were Non-Binary? Or Trans and not out yet? Either way splitting them up into groups based on their Sex is just dumb. Kurt should've been allowed to join the girls, he's the only one who doesn't feel comfortable with the group he was assigned to. It's not like splitting them into Male and Female groups actually matters when it's just a friendly competition between the students.
