I am so glad when people love this episode, it does deserve all the praise that it gets, I will amend.

I’m with you, this episode always struck me as fantastic. One thing I will say that I think you might have missed. It wasn’t necessarily the biting into the carrot (or at least not just that) that started it all. The guy picked the carrots and then rinsed them off before he took a bite. It’s a small detail and not that big of a deal, but the water he rinsed them off with was the unfiltered water and that was the problem. Anyway, great reaction! Glad you enjoyed and I’m super excited for the next couple of ones!!

This episode is a masterpiece. David Tennant’s performance was amazing. That speech about the time lords always gives me chills. I just wish this darker Doctor would have lasted a bit longer, and we could see the ramifications of his actions throughout several episodes. I still liked it, though. I’m glad he realized he went too far at the end.

Perhaps my favorite Tennant episode. For me this, and the "Human Nature/Family of Blood" two-parter, are Tennant at his finest Who-ness. 2 episodes left .....

I was so excited for your reaction to this, and you didn't disappoint. It really is an incredible episode and reminds us that the Doctor does have that in him. The ability to become dangerous if left unchecked. To forget all the rules and play by his own. It's like what Donna said. Sometimes he needs someone to stop him. He needs a companion with him to keep him in check, to remind him how to be better. I think Adelaide was very human. She didn't want to die and she didn't want her crew to die so she begged for his help, but in the end she did the hard thing, knowing nobody else would. Nobody wants to be the heavy, the one to make the difficult choices, but since the Doctor wouldn't, she did. I think the Doctor was also very tired of watching people die and feeling helpless to it, but he did go too far. Good stuff. On another note, I did see your post from before about vimeo and dropbox. It's thoughtful of you to want to give people options if they're having issues. I just add a new video to my own dropbox and I can watch the whole thing fine most of the time, but it's always good to have options.

I feel this episode shows us why the Doctor should never travel alone.

Oh, and I think that the two survivors probably tried to explain to people that they had an alien encounter with the Doctor, to explain how she died on Earth, and they told how she saved Earth by exploding the Mars base so that would still inspire her granddaughter. At least that's my take on it, since the news article had a picture of the two survivors with a headline saying how Adelaide saved Earth. Also, at the end there, that's the cloister bell sounding in the TARDIS, it's like an alarm warning of impending danger. I think they left it open at the end of this episode as to what the Doctor means by 'No'. Does he mean no, he refuses to die as his death has been foretold, or does he mean no, he refuses to give up this power trip he's on, or does he mean something else entirely. Up to the imagination unless it's confirmed later.

FYI @Steven: The old tag-linking system doesn't work anymore: Your link to the tag Doctor Who https://www.patreon.com/GeekedOutNation/posts?tag=Doctor%20Who does not filter anything for me. The new system appears to be https://www.patreon.com/GeekedOutNation/posts?filters[tag]=Doctor%20Who

God, this is my all time favorite episode of Doctor Who. This, and Midnight as a close second. Ten has been through so much that he's downright broken by this point. It makes perfect sense that he would have reached this point, mentally, but it's still heartbreaking to see how far he has fallen.

There is a darker shift in 10 since he started traveling alone. I think for a while there was a debate as to if it was just because he didn’t have a companion to hold him back, or if something changed in his personality when he partially regenerated in the last season finale.

Bonus fun fact; I had been wanting to watch Doctor Who for years but never really knew where I should start. During that time, this episode premiered and I very nearly watched it without having seen any of the others. As much as I adore it, I'm glad I chose to start with Nine instead. It wouldn't have had the same impact without all of that context.

Question for anyone: when you downloaded the ep, was your download missing sound? Usually i have no issues. Thanks! I’m also googling but not finding it yet

I think I am one of the few people that do not love this episode. The acting is great, the story is great, but I have an ongoing problem with the Doctor Who episodes where no matter what the Doctor does people start whinging. "Save me, save me, you are a monster if you don't save me." "Now you are a monster for actually saving me like I begged you to do." It just personally annoys me.

The paper you read in the video has some text about the article about the "mysterious doctor who saved the crew"
