Great reaction. We do find out a lot more about Katherine and Elena is nothing like Katherine, only her face is the same. Elena has shown Damon compassion for no gain, which is something new for Damon, so yes he likes her because of that, which is why he won't hurt her. Although I'm not sure if Damon has worked that out yet. However, he is so hung up on and obsessed with Katherine, I don't think he see's her as anything other than someone who is compassionate. Elena is fairly innocent and naive, whereas Katherine was a seductress, therefore it is easy to separate the two. Damon is driven by his love for Katherine and is absolutely blinded by it. He will do anything to get her back. He has no remorse for killing anyone who gets in his way of getting her back right now, but there is another reason behind that and it will be explained in later episodes. There were 3 bombshell's in this episode. Stefan saved Elena, Elena is adopted & Damon killed Ric's wife. Regarding Damon being weak. Vampires can get drunk, however, they do sober up much more quickly than humans. Damon had been drinking heavily which is why I think Lexi's boyfriend was able to catch him off guard. This episode has set the scene for a lot of events which will run right throughout the rest of the show. There are some key episodes in this show and this is one of them. Hoping you'll react to the next episode.

As cruel as it is, I'm with Damon on killing Bree. She demonstrated that not only she wants him dead, she is prepared to act on that desire. And when a witch actively wants to kill you - you strike first.

I will always say that Stefan was way too stalkery regarding Elena. And I don't know why anyone would want to be with someone who looks exactly like their ex. Especially looking like someone from a relationship that you shared with your brother. It's creepy.

I've NEVER understood being able to date and even fall in love with someone who is the exact doppelganger of the woman who seduced you and your brother, ruined your brotherhood and your lives and dictated the utter misery you've endured for 150 years. The whole "you're nothing like her" thing is too flowery of an excuse. If there's ever an instance where looks matter or come first, it's this. There's NO WAY Stefan doesn't at least THINK of Katherine whenever he looks at Elena. She defined so much, if not all, of what changed his life permanently. And if I were Elena, this would have been a deal breaker for me. There's no way she's not doubting if he still holds a torch for Katherine the entire time they're together either. I dunno. It's just too weird for me.
