It was hard giving it an 8, because I can't say I 'enjoyed' the episode. It was gross and sad. And then hearing from Dean how much he related to those twisted kids. And how messed up he knows he is because he enjoyed hurting others after decades being the one hurting. At least that didn't come back with him; he's trying to make up for it. Saving people to earn some redemption, working case after case to get the red off his ledger. Just an all-around tragedy of an episode. A really different-feeling show on this one. But i gave it a high rating for my anxiety level and the change of pace; I like that this show doesn't keep the same tone from ep to ep.

I have a hard time with this episode. The writing and cinematography are both so good, plus of course the boys are always great. But I don’t “enjoy” the episode. It may be the whole incest thing - that just gives me the “Ickes”. And killing the dog is always going to turn me off, or it may be learning that not only did Dean torture souls in hell, that he liked doing it. I adore Dean and I don’t like being forced to face his flaws. But that’s what makes him such a great character, all the different layers. Glad you enjoyed it. XXOO
