Hello again! Thank you once more for another reaction for Once Upon a Time!! First... I enjoyed this episode, especially for Ruby/Red's storyline. It was really great having more story for Ruby/Red in both the present day and in her backstory. However, I do agree with you that Ruby's previous centered episode from season one was definitely better. In this one... the acting is worse and a little cheesy, especially Ruby's acting in the past storyline. She seems better as Ruby in this episode. Also... I did feel that her backstory was a bit rushed and that there could have been a lot more to her story in regards to her mother and Anita's pack. I liked it for what little we got, but it was most definitely rushed. I also wished they had revealed what might have come for the surviving members of the pack, but I'm just going to assume that they ran off to find a new place to hide after the Evil Queen's guards' attack that killed Quinn. But over all, I really liked the story. And I didn't really mind much that Quinn was killed, because I didn't really care much for his character. Anita being killed when Red protected Snow though... it was sad for Red and I felt so bad for her. However, I think Anita's death was well deserved for trying to get Red to turn against Snow and because she believed that all humans were evil that needed to be killed. My favorite moment in the backstory though, was Red telling Snow she protected her family because she protected Snow. So sweet and such a cute friendship. And I love that this storyline for Red and Snow picks up after the events from season one's episode, Red-Handed. Also... I love the parallel friendships between Ruby and David, as well as Ruby and Belle in the present day storyline too. I liked how Belle believed in Ruby, as much as David did. And I loved how David revealed to her how he had learned from his mistake with not believing in Mary Margaret back in season one too. Throughout this episode, David fought for Ruby and did all he could to prove to her that she wasn't the real monster. I loved the storyline between David and King George, or Albert Spencer in this episode very much. Their dynamic is very interesting throughout the show. Spencer is a real jerk, that I love to hate. (Pardon me, but I don't like to swear at all, so I can't say what I really think of him. Ha! Ha! Ha!) As for why so many people, who are clearly extras chosen to act as the random townsfolk and fairytale folk, chose to stand up with George against David, Ruby, and Granny... it's because like in any town or kingdom, there are people who fully supported King George in their kingdom and wanted him to be their King, not David. So of course they would chose to side with George in Storybrooke too. So I understand this mob. And as for George's reasons for killing Gus/Billy... it's so he can knock David down and to turn everyone against him in hope that he may be able to become a ruler over their new Kingdom again. With Snow and Emma gone, he had a chance. And George has always hated David so much... not just because David turned against him and ruined his plans for his kingdom, but also because he has his son's face and David doesn't love him as a father. So he can't stand seeing David be the man in charge and being happy. And as for Gus/Billy... he was actually introduced in a few episodes before this one. His roles were always small, but this episode is where we first learn who he was in the past... in the Enchanted Forest. That he was little Gus, the mouse in Cinderella's panty who liked to eat cheese. As for why George killed him... it wasn't just so he could use the distraction to get his hands on Jefferson's hat, but so that he could turn everyone in the town against David and Ruby. George saw Ruby talking with Billy a number of times during and after the curse and saw that she cared about him. Therefore, sadly he became George's target so he could frame Ruby. It is sad that we lost Gus/Billy. I definitely would have liked to get to know him more, but I understand he purpose for why they killed him off so soon. Poor Billy... I would have liked to see him and Ruby get together at least for one date. It's sad that Spencer had to go and murder him to try to turn the whole town against Ruby, and therefore David. Again... what a jerk! It's also tragic that George burned Jefferson's hat in the end to try to stop David from being reunited with his wife and daughter. I love that David struck him down to the ground with a punch to his face, then pulled his own gun on him ready to kill Spencer, but that Ruby convinced him not to. David would have proven to the people that he wasn't a hero after all if he had, just like George wanted him to do. As for Granny... she was great in this episode too. And I like how she was able to help David track down who really killed Billy using her sense of smell. Next... I also loved once again the storyline between David and Henry too. They're so sweet. But I liked how David had called Regina to come over to watch over Henry for him while he was busy, and that she was there for Henry when Henry woke up from another nightmare. I really enjoy how Henry falls into the Neverworld... the land between life and death every time he sleeps. So terrifying. I would never want to sleep again. And then... upon seeing Henry was hurt by the fire, Regina calls Gold, who gives Henry some magic so that he can control his dream and therefore, his fear. Very nice, and very surprising because Gold gave it to him without any strings attached in some deal. Very out of character for Gold. Overall... I really enjoy the mystery behind Henry's nightmares in the Neverworld and him finally being able to meet Aurora. And lastly... Aurora has seen Henry, then wakes up to reveal to Emma and Mary Margaret that she spoke to Henry. It's getting so exciting!!!! Overall... I really enjoyed this episode, even though I missed Hook in it. I absolutely adore and love the banter between Emma and Killian. So, until next time...

While this episode isn’t one of my favorites, I do enjoy episodes about side characters, mixes things up and makes side characters a lot more deeper and complex. What I liked most about this episode is the fact that, both in the real world and flashback/fairytale world we get to see Red/Ruby’s relationship really deepen and solidify with both David and Snow. I think she’s too much of a good character to keep her in the background so much, so just objectively, her getting her own episode is well deserved. I do agree, and wish that they would have made her time spent with her mom/pack way more longer. But the writers obviously couldn’t fit that in, but even if they said “5 months later” or something during the flashback, that would have been a bit better then her accepting everyone and everything so quickly. But that’s the thing with Red/Ruby as a character, her in the beginning, her character was a bit ‘doe-eyed’ and gullible. Being sheltered and lied her whole life, she kind of had everything dumped on her all at once and didn’t get time to really process it. Literally learning she’s part wolf WHILE finding out she also killed her boyfriend, that’s why I personally give her a pass on her fast acceptance of her mom and the pack. Learning control of her wolf form in one night? That I can’t really excuse,🤷🏼‍♀️ Unless is really was JUST that simple as learning to accept your wolf-side as part of you. But I guess the writers weren’t keen on giving Red/Ruby multiple episode to grow properly as a character,🤷🏼‍♀️ Thanks for the reaction! Can’t wait for the next, hopefully you like it/enjoy it! ❤️
