I think you’ve got to assume more happened than what we saw. Like that Wallace probably filled in Jackie about Veronica’s love life.. or perhaps she heard it at school.. and also, that Wallace probably talked a bit more with his dad before just leaving. That said, the latter did surprise me and didn’t quite sit right. I honestly think Percy Daggs (the actor plays Wallace) had to film something else.

Ok, so I went back through the episode to see how this case even makes sense and I swear it took me a minute to get it, but I think I might have cracked it. When Jackie is at the counter and her card is declined, there is a sign for the psychic’s show. I think when Jackie saw the sign, she made a deal with the woman to trick Veronica onto the show as like payment. She just used the credit card thing as an excuse to get Veronica on the case because everyone talks about what a good detective Veronica is in that classroom scene. I think Jackie really bought everything on that print out before the card got declined, including the candles. Then, Jackie gave the candles to the psychic to trick Veronica into thinking it was proof that the psychic stole the card number, because the candles aren’t on the counter when Jackie is there, but then they appear when Veronica goes. And the psychic could have just known that Veronica was Lilly’s friend because the Lilly Kane murder was huge in that town, and Veronica is also a witness against Aaron for the trial. I’m pretty sure that’s the whole explanation, but like you said it’s so convoluted I’m not sure Jackie could’ve come up with it realistically. As for Duncan and Logan, Duncan was just trying to mend fences, like he said. Duncan was angry at Logan pretty much only because it was Logan’s dad that killed Lilly. In that episode where they fought, Logan told Duncan that he hated his dad too, so I think Duncan realized his anger was misplaced, and he’s trying to get over it now. Then at the end Veronica apologized because Wallace asked her not to do anything to Jackie, and then he walked in on Veronica berating her and he probably assumed that Veronica was getting revenge for the psychic thing, so he thinks she went against his wishes. Maybe he asked Veronica not to do anything because he wanted to handle it, I guess by breaking up with her, but I think that was unfair of him to ask that after what Jackie did. I don’t know, maybe he was just trying to find someone to be on his side or something. And I think Wallace left because he felt like he didn’t have anybody to turn to, because Veronica didn’t do what he asked, even though he does favors for her all the time, then his girlfriend hurt his best friend, and his mom lied to him his whole life. Honestly, there’s a lot that is just messy in this episode, and it could’ve been handled much better. P.S. Glad to have you back.

Welcome back man! And to put this meh episode in context, I believe this episode was rushed and messy because of behind the scenes stuff. For some reason, the actor had other obligations that he had to tend to, thus, the writers seem like they were grasping at straws trying to find ways to write him out of the show. I'm sure the episode would've gone differently if the actor hadn't had to leave for a while. But don't worry, he'll be back.

Good to have you back man. Sucks that you first episode back is probably among the worse of the entire series. It annoyed me to no end. I also don't like Tessa's character but i always lol with the visceral reaction you have to her character. The problem in this episode is that all the characters were poorly written. Also i agree that they regressed Logan big time at the beginning of this season, probably because in the previous season he had stolen the thunder from the supposed original protagonist of the show that was Duncan, and they tried to put Duncan in central frame, while at the same time benching Logan. Even though his is one of the main stories of this season, at the beginning they made him irrelevant.
