Ari is my Cat

I love this episode. I would give it a ten but I know the next episode would have to be an eleven if I did.

Usually i leave the 10's for the big episodes but this is so brilliantly written and it throws so much at you. As a filler episode it really shouldn't be that good but it is. Also the reason they turned Buffy into a rat was because SMG was starring in Saturday Night Live at the timeband they had to come up with a way to do a lot of the episode without her. Loved your reaction btw

The thing with miss Calendar is about her not being forthright with the information on Angel, the curse and why she was there.

I was so looking forward to you react to this episode. I knew this was gonna be the next one and i felt so excited about it - mainly because this is one of my favorite episodes and so funnily made. I also love that there are episodes focused on other characters than Buffy even though she is the main character ofc. It is really fun seeing Xander being the man in this episode, like really. Btw, i found that hilarious when Buffy was turned into a rat, that added more craziness to the episode and i remember bursting out of laughter in that scene when i was watching it for the first time ever. Btw, you are getting closer and closer to season 3 and that is making me very excited as well. Season 3 is even more amazing than season 2, even though season 2 has amazing episodes as well. This show is getting better and better, trust me. There’s even more good characters you will come across on the show. It was so fun to watch this episode with you, thank you. It made my night a lot better than it was.

This is definitely my favourite 'filler' episode. Loved it! And I really enjoyed watching you react to it, very very funny!!

Allan Cornett

What is funny about Oz calling his Aunt and her short terse response to the werewolf question is that you could see Oz answering the same way if he was asked that question. It runs in the family.

Allan Cornett

One of the best funny episodes of Buffy but not the best. In the top five of funny Buffy episodes. The best is still ahead. I gave it an eight.

I feel like vampires wake up automatically hungry, craving their first bit of blood which is why they come out viciously. That's my take on it anyway. And I think it's good to give an episode a high rating if you enjoyed it. Even episodes that may not be 'perfect', the whole point is if you enjoyed it. And this one is REALLY entertaining.

This episode is undoubtetly funny, but as usual with Buffy, there are always deep or troubling undertones. I am less indulgent with Xander. The way he reacts each time he is rejected by a woman is problematic. The initial spell was meant to punish Cordelia for rejecting him! And in the end, she is the one who must redeem herself? Why?

Vicky N

This episode is written by Marti Noxon, one of my favorite writer on this show who isn't Joss Whedon. She is delightfully twisted when she writes the Angel-Drusilla-Spike dynamic.

I agree that Xander doing what he did was messed up, Cordelia essentially trying to embarrass him and the way he was treated by everyone was bad as well. I look at it as a moment of weakness which we kind of see him try to redeem himself in the Episode when he saves her from getting beat up by the girls. Yes it was his fault it was happening but he did save her. He also did not take advantage of the situation with the other girls which shows him in a good light. I think I felt she needed to be redeemed because she is just always mean to everyone so to me it's more about redeeming her overall character based on who she has been. Would have been nice to see Giles and Xandee have a conversation about what he did just so we could see how bad he felt.

I agree that Cordelia is usually mean to everybody, she is far from my favorite character in this show. I have to disagree with you on her trying to embarrass Xander, when she decides to breakup with him. When she decides to breakup with him, she tells him plain and simple. She could have been more considerate, but that’s not Cordelia. It’s only when he comes after her, when he thinks that the spell has worked, that she uses harsh words in front of her friends. It is true that by the end, when she tells Harmony to shut up, she demonstrates that she is maturing. Xander, on the other end has done something wrong, as a result put Cordelia in danger, doesn’t apologize to her and at the end gets the girl. The fact that he saves her from a danger he put her into and that he didn’t take advantage of the situation with Buffy and the other girls is the least you should expect .

I really hate that Buffy (and the show) and some fans give credit to Xander for not taking advantage of her. Taking advantage of someone under a love spell is rape. If you're giving credit to a character for not raping someone, then your bar is set extremely low. It's also sad that Cordelia thinks what Xander did was romantic. He was trying to mind control her! Xander was trying to magically roofie Cordy, then he was going to break her heart and publicly humiliate her, but of course, Xander does not tell Cordy about that part.

Katherine Thoreson

The reason Buffy was turned into a rat for this episode is because Sarah Michelle Gellar was going to be busy hosting Saturday Night Live and would not be that available for filming.

Renee Pope-Munro

Hard agree on it not being a thing worth celebrating that Xander doesn’t take advantage of a spell-drunk Buffy. Like, that is a LOW bar, ladies and gents. I also don’t think Cordelia was trying to embarrass Xander, as much as that was an outcome. We’ve seen that she uses her previous persona as a shield, and this is another example of that. Poor choice, which led to another poor choice in response, but not malicious. I also don’t think that’s an excuse to essentially magically rufie someone so you can break them. Because.... ew. I’m not firmly in either Xander camp, but I can TOTALLY understand the part of the fandom who sees him as a perfect example of toxic ‘but I’m a NICE guy’ syndrome. I think he learns and does better, which is something. Again, not a high bar, but it’s better than nothing.

Renee Pope-Munro

Lol, my previous comment seems to have vanished, annoying! Just wanted to also say, the episode title is an homage to a jazz standard of the same name, which is about the bewitching power of infatuation.

Richard Lucas

Vicky, to me, Cordy had to redeem herself not because she was mean to Xander, but because she wasn’t true to herself. She loves Xander and instead of being true to herself and that love, she broke up with him over a petty reason. That’s her right to do that, but characters in shows that aren’t true to themselves and their true feelings almost always pay a price for that. One could almost look at Xander in this episode as a plot device for Cordy coming to terms with who she really is.

Richard Lucas

Marti Noxon is my queen! She actually gets to appear onscreen in a future episode but I don’t want to spoil anything.

Richard Lucas

Does anyone else just Harmony’s wounded “I’m not a sheep.” at the end? I’m such a fan of even the minor characters on this show.

I haven't said much but it's been fun rewatching this show with you, the main reason I'm here is for Supernatural and Nikita and between those posts I'm watching Buffy, then when I catch up with that I'll add something else as my "filler" show
