I would say that it was a 6 for me. Mainly because of the scene with shifter Dean shedding his skin which was just gross but also amazing and because of the scene where we got to hear shifter Dean share some light about what Dean really feels. I think it makes sense that Sam wouldn't bring it up, it must be an awkward situation to be in, especially as Dean isn't the sharing and caring type. I imagine he'd just rather try and forget what shifter Dean said to him. As for how Sam is around the victims/family of victims compared to when he's alone with Dean, I think it's his way of trying to connect with them and get the information that they need. I also imagine it is possibly something Jared Padalecki was told to do, maybe to show just how different Sam and Dean are. The time line with Rebecca is confusing, I agree. Maybe she was on her way home from the police station or something? That's what my head canon says anyway. The brothers definitely make stupid decisions sometimes and yep, splitting up definitely wasn't a good move.

This was my personal favorite of the very first episodes. I think as we get to the second half of this season you are going to see what this show is capable of. But Sn 2 is even better so there is alot for you to look forward to. And you will be happy with the way Sam's character grows.

I gave this one a 7. I found it pretty interesting - and icky. But it was interesting to hear Dean's inner thoughts through the Shifter. I'm always a sucker for character and story info. I don't think Supernatural is really a "scary" show. I think the creator's were hoping it would be. At the time it originally aired it was a little bit for me. Not fully "scary", but maybe more creepy. There are definitely times where the boys make bad decisions. I see it as only human. And maybe they just are overly confident, and that it was necessary to split. Overall, season 1 is kindergarten for this show. This is one of the episodes where it's a big shame you don't get the original music. It really adds so much to some scenes! The video link the follows gives you each scene from season 1 where the music score is deemed important. The ones for this episode start at 3:31. I got the link to start at this point.
