y'all I finally have a second to breathe so it's time to talk about our favorite green Gelfling! I'm gonna start from the ground up. I apologize for not having super great details photos to use for these breakdowns. I'm still in Spain so I can't take photos of the individual pieces of the cosplay. I'll write about the process for now and show you guys detail photos when I get back!!

So to start Deet, I wanted to use as much repurposed material as possible. I went to Goodwill to find any old skirts and dresses and belts and anything at all that could be repurposed. I'm a huge believer in recycling for cosplay so I definitely wanted to take advantage of a weathered looking character like Deet and and use a little new whole-cloth materials as possible

I found a pair of light tan fake suede boots at Goodwill to start. The first thing I did to the boots was alter the shape. I have wanted them to look kinda frumpy and work and saggy so u used needle and thread to kinda gather the fabric on the boots in several places. Once I the folds were sewn down, I started to weather the boots first with watered down rit polydye and a sponge and then with old expired eyeshadow similar to what I did on the Deet gloves. I places several different colors and shades of dark brown on the seems and in the folds of the boots to add dimension and make them look old and worn even though they were in really good shape when I took them home!
