Tougher match this week than I expected, with The Best Years of Our Lives putting up a strong fight in its first week. It's been a while since we've seen a result as close as 51-48. I'd expected a blowout, which is one reason why I decided to finally watch Wyler's Mrs. Miniver (which does in fact play a bit like a wartime version of Best Years—or, I guess, Best Years plays like a postwar Miniver). In any case, The Nice Guys did in fact prevail this time; it's available on HBO and rentable from the usual suspects, though I may very well be the last person in these parts to see it.
