I’ve watched Yellowstone. It really is a right wing fantasy show. It has all the things that they have wet dreams about: The virtues of family business, good guys with guns, and plenty of owning the libs with the characters of John Dutton and his daughter. Plus add even more ridiculous shootouts than Sons of Anarchy where guys get lit up by automatic weapons and live. It fits the conservative mind so well, because it has almost no joy whatsoever, and the characters carry on tradition just because. It is like Dallas a very prime time soap. I think the production of the show is brilliant by Taylor Sheridan though. I think he’s actually middle of the road politically, but he recognized there was a huge market for conservative tv and he made a prestige show for them which has made him millions.

Yeah that seems too on the nose to put on an ep, but probably accurate. It should be addressed somehow. I mean a shit ton of people watch the show

I read a big long piece about the whole Taylor Sheridan universe and the interviewer keeps trying to get him to talk about in 2017 when he said “can’t we just impeach the motherfucker?” Or something to that effect and both he and paramount keep telling the interviewer basically, like, “would you please shut up about that”. Can’t speak to any of his shows but three movies he wrote are all really goddamn good lol… I don’t know if he did “Day of the Soldado” but Hell or High Water/Sicario/Wind River is a hell of an opening run

I’m disappointed that chapo hasn’t done a deeper dive into Yellowstone. I haven’t seen it, but so many people watch it that it’s worth another excruciating look. Just wish someone else would do it for me. My guess is that they don’t want to dive deep into it because it actually reveals a ton of depressing shit about the people who made and love the show. Like making the polar opposite show to Deadwood, which should depict a more hopeful America, and saying this is the America you love, take it piggy. A show made for people who willingly choose to buy jeeps.

It is honestly surprising how everyone in America knows jeeps are the iphones of cars yet they still sell hundreds of thousands of vehicles to hapless idiots who don't really need forty tools to change a light bulb. You can say a lot about bmw but usually you only need two tools per task not an entire shop. Like iPhones I get because there disposable but jeeps are fucking cars you can't just get rid of a jeep when it needs a repair that's 1/10 of it's cost.

Let me be clear on Jeeps. Jeeps are the the complete miscarriage of the American dream because they are the single product that no matter how clearly limited, dangerous and unreliable they are, they still holding up the shrinking profits a failing company that’s just a revolving door of owners from around the globe.
