ANNOUNCING: Hell on Earth // Annual Memberships // Hinge Points (Patreon)

It's a huge day for space-watchers as we are proud to announce three major new projects & updates to the Chapo Trap House Patreon.

The first is HELL ON EARTH, a new history series from Matt and Chris.

HELL ON EARTH: The Thirty Years War & The Violent Birth of Capitalism is a 10-episode miniseries that will launch on Jan. 11, 2023 here on the Chapo Patreon.

The show will tell the story of the Thirty Years War, the cataclysmic outbreak of violence in central Europe that lasted from 1618-1648. It’s the story of the long crisis of the 17th century, the birth of Protestantism and the collapse of Catholic Christendom, and ultimately, the gleaming T-800 Terminator skeleton of Capitalism emerging from the rotting corpse of Feudalism. It’s a story of gnarly violence from a bygone age, of hot death on the battlefield, and cool intrigue in the palaces of Kings and Emperors. But it’s also the story of climate change, financial collapse, moral panics, speculative bubbles, pandemic, crisis in institutional legitimacy, of conspiracy theories driving policy, and an information revolution that changes the way everyday people relate to their political leaders. Sound familiar? This is the birth of modernity.

We're very proud of this show, and for listeners to our Hell of Presidents series, it will follow a similar tone and style. For subscribers who didn't catch that series, it will follow many of the historical threads Matt's been pulling at for years, with the added structure and crisp production of your humble & dedicated producer.
