Personally, to an extent I see my older sister as a sort of mother in my life. While our parents worked late, it was her taking care of our younger siblings and me. I always get a little emotional with this episode.

kuma the statue in this episode is not iroh iroh is viewed as a disgrace to his nation the same way that the us public viewed soldiers during/after vietnam the statue is of the person who is idolized by the fire nation public aka their current firelord ozzai basically ozzai has a major ego complex and is very twisted about it he probably is also jelous that their father azulong(yes azula is named after him) payed more attention to iroh then him when iroh's son died he felt so devastated that he withdrew his forces from ba sing say RIGHT as they were about to claim it for the fire nation whilst ozzai was at the homeland(firenation) he manipulated the news and thus the public forever saw iroh as a coward ( and please note that iroh doesn't even care if that was the case cause he was still grieving over his son's death)thus its why that when we cut to iroh in prison the guards show him a lot of distaste

NinjaKuma

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark, Ozzai is a c*nt There's taking your brother's place, and then there's utter despicable sh*t like that... I can see why the Fire Lord wanted Ozzai to learn the pain Iroh felt.... he was a c*nt

NinjaKuma

Yeah, the eldest usually go for positions of authority as it is the responsibility they were given of their younger siblings The youngest usually gets all the attention, and the middle needs to be the trouble maker as they need to get attention as they have neither attention nor responsibility

Funny enough, theres actually additional lore about that Ozai statue in the beginning that you thought might be Iroh. No theres no firebenders inside it, however, the idea that its just that glorious isnt far off. Its directly above a volcanic vent that constantly shoots fire. Which, as far as I know isnt a real thing irl, but fuck it, its cool enough that it can still happen because fuck you its a cool statue and this is a tv show.

At 25:52 in this video you get to see Katara once again both practicing her water bending, AND using it practically. Shes stirring the soup with no ladle. Because she doesnt need a ladle. Its one of those "of course they would do that" moments in the show. The elements are mostly known for fighting, but in day to day life theyre also super useful and just make life easier. In Season 1 Episode 1 you see Aang several times, subconsciously use his air bending to do simple things such as standing up from a laying position, pick up his staff without leaning down, etc. In season 2 you also get to see Iroh using his firebending to simply heat some tea. Katara here stirring her soup isnt the first time you see practical bending. In season 1 you also of course have the Omashu delivery system, powered by earth bending. Season 2 you have the train system of Ba Sing Se, all earth bending. In Korra (this isnt really a spoiler) at some point you see and earthbender just building himself a chair because there were none around. To a greater extent, any machine that required heat or fire to run, fire benders can also easily do without any fuel aside from breakfast lol

And hawky was never seen again. Probably because nobody in the group knows shit about how to use a messenger hawk. Probably showed up back at some random fire nation hawk aviary he was trained to return to and was never seen by our group again lol

Hey, I'm a good middle child. I had to often play the peacekeeper between the younger ones. Lol

exactly despite contributing to the war on the rest of the nations; ozzai and iroh's father was still a decent family man
