Another in-joke/theory with JJK fans is the idea that Gojo purposefully used Limitless to step on those ants without crushing them in front of Gakuganji to flex on him, as if he's quietly saying "Remember who's top dog around here, I'm being nice to you. None of you can touch me.", which I can totally see him doing. Based on what Shoko said back in episode 5 Gojo usually doesn't get so emotional about his superiors fucking with him, the (at the time seemingly successful) assassination attempt seriously pissed him off. Yeah, this was a pretty neat baseball break. In an older shounen this kind of thing would be saved for a pointless filler episode, but I'm kind of glad it's a real thing that happens here. Another thing I like about JJK is how it gets straight to the point and nothing feels like it drags on forever, which is also unfortunately a weakness since it's "straight to the point" pacing means that a lot of time that could have been used to explain things that are presented really casually are kind of just swept aside because the plot wastes no time in its progression (like how Gojo's explanation of his own technique basically told us nothing). Whereas an older shounen would dedicate more screentime to things like character backstories, JJK shows us just the amount we need to "get it" while still moving things along in a way that doesn't stop the story in its tracks, which is appreciated if not also a little blue balling sometimes. For the most part though, I like it. The author does a good job keeping track of even little details with the plot and characters, which makes me think he does something similar to what Araki (JoJo author) does with character sheets, maybe Akutami keeps like a self made Lore Book he looks through to keep track of the universe? Then again I hear being a mangaka is basically Hell 1.5 so basically any mangaka would need to do that huh, or just like any competent writer in general? Gonna cut this off before I ramble myself to sleep.

2023-01-22 16:33:39 I guess similar to Tolkien first you build the world, the language and the laws around it, then the story and characters within it. Otherwise its just another wish fulfilment, fanservice anime of little substance & generic as all hell characters.
