Update Post! November 16th (Today is a good day!) (Patreon)

The next major step in the transition to working on music full-time happened today: this morning was my last shift at work! I'm moving out this weekend (Friday to be exact) so getting all my house stuff organized along with attempting to get Bowser 64 finished will take up most of my time for the next few days.

I'd also like to note that since I'm transferring my internet service, I will be without internet at home for a few days, until the 24th (next Thursday) to be exact. I can get on all my social media stuff via my phone so I'll still be able to reply to things on Youtube/Twitter/Facebook/Patreon, so I won't be completely gone, but until I get my service back up and running, I probably won't be making any super long posts or anything.

Also, if I'm unable to get Koopa Battle finished and up by Friday night/Saturday morning, I can always just take my laptop to a wifi hotspot somewhere to get it uploaded. So don't worry about video delays, back-up plans are in place. :)

I'm fairly certain I'll have everything up and running by the time the beginning of next week rolls around, and fortunately I don't need the internet to record things, so Monday will be the official start of my full-time dedication to GaMetal and music-related things in general. My first order of business for next week is getting caught up on acoustic shorts, which from this point on should never be an issue, and working on the last drawing winner Streets of NY from TMNT 2: Arcade. I'll also be working a little bit on the Patreon album songs.

With all that's been going on the first half of this month, I'm not quite sure if I'll be able to squeeze in a fourth song, though I'd really like to. I won't really be able to tell until I get Streets of NY complete, so around that time I'll give you a better picture of what's coming (I don't exactly have a particular song lined up, but there's quite a few I've been wanting to do before the year is over).

But I do have a particular song that I said I was going to reveal in this update, so coming in December:

It's been a long time coming, but next month we're finally getting to Sonic Fan Medley 2: Genesis Edition!

We haven't really had a ton of medleys this year, something I've been wanting to do more of but they take a lot of time to do, but with the transition to full-time we'll be able to get medleys more often. 

The first Sonic Fan Medley, despite the weird 2014 sound quality, has been fairly successful, and everyone has been wanting a sequel. Also, entirely by chance (thanks RandomPicker), most of the songs in the medley were from Modern era Sonic games, so I really wanted this next one to be focused more on the Classic era this time around. RandomPicker didn't random pick a good mix of modern and classic like I had hoped. xD

I was going to call this SFM2: Classic Edition, but honestly I'm not exactly sure what the cutoff between 'Modern' and 'Classic' Sonic is considered to be (I think Classic is considered everything before Sonic Adventure), so to help evade confusion we're just going to label this the Genesis version and feature fan-chosen songs from Sonic 1, 2 and 3&K.

I 've spent a lot of time thinking about how to go about doing the song selection. The GaMetal fanbase has grown enormously since the first Sonic Fan Medley, so having people submit songs and randomly choosing 10 wouldn't really work well because almost every Sonic song from the Sonic 1-3 OST would be submitted. 

Also, even though the first Mega Man Mega Medley was done by tweeting 'the first 10 people to reply to this tweet with their favorite MM song gets that song in an upcoming medley!', the Sonic Medley was the only one with 'Fan' in the title, so I wanted to stay true to the spirit of the original and have everyone able to participate.

SO!!! Here's how it will work: everyone will be able to submit 3 songs: one from Sonic 1, 2, and 3/3&K. There will be 3 ways to vote: replying to an upcoming video on Youtube telling people to comment with their 3 entries, tweeting #SonicFanMedley2 with the 3 entries on Twitter, and lastly commenting with your entries on an entry post here on Patreon (it's not this post xD).

The entries will be totaled up (unfortunately I'll have to do this by hand but since we're full time now, it's not like I don't have time!), and the top 3 songs from Youtube, 3 from Twitter, and 3 from Patreon will be entered in the medley along with the 3 choices from my Tier 7+ Patrons on here as that is their tier reward, to create a 15 song medley. If a song ties across platforms, (say, Youtube and Twitter highest Sonic 2 vote is Chemical Plant Zone), we'll choose whatever song is in 2nd place as well.

Technically people will be able to vote 3 times if they comment on the video, tweet on Twitter, and post here on Patreon. This is ok and I think it'll be a good way to attract some new people to my Twitter and Patreon pages.

I don't really have a super huge following on Facebook so I'm leaving Facebook out this round, in case you're wondering. :S

The announcement of Sonic Fan Medley 2: Genesis Edition, along with entry video, is going to be a part of the upcoming November 30th live-stream, so that will also be when you can submit your song entries. I'll make the Patreon entry post on that day as well.

I'll be taking entries for a week so the entry period will end on Wednesday, December 7th. Because of this, it won't be the first song in December, but more likely the second or third.

I feel like I've said enough in this post so we'll leave it at that for now! As I mentioned earlier hopefully Koopa Battle will be ready to go for the weekend but if not, you can expect it sometime early next week.
