The first thing Dora noticed when she got home was the little plastic potty chair sitting in the middle of the coffee table in the living room.  It was very similar to the one she had seen her baby cousins use while getting potty trained.

“Mum?” she called out.  “What is this potty doing here?  Are you babysitting Daniel or Mason?”  There was no answer from her mother.  Strange, she was always home at night.  She walked into the kitchen, where there was no sign of her mother.  “Mum?” she called out again.  No answer.

Well then, it looked like she had the house to herself then.  She sat down in the living room and flipped on the television.  It was a rare occasion where her mother wasn’t already parked on the couch and watching something that didn’t interest Dora.

But that toddler’s potty chair.  She couldn’t help but glance over to it from time to time while she watched TV.  It was cute, but that wasn’t all.  There was something about it that...well...she couldn’t quite put her finger on how she felt about it.  She continued watching TV until the thought became clearer in her mind:  She wanted to use it.  How fun would that be?

She practically giggled as she took the potty from the table and set it on the floor in the middle of the room.  She pulled her pants down to her ankles and squatted over the potty before realizing she was better off without pants at all, so she kicked them aside.  She squatted over it again, gently lowering her bottom down until she was sitting on it.  She felt ridiculous being so big for the little potty, but there was something so adorably silly about it that all she could do was laugh about it.  It wasn’t long before she felt her bladder ready to release, and so she did.  It started so light, a tiny trickle.

“...so I got it ready for you,” she suddenly heard a voice say.  It was her mother!  “I got it out of the basement and cleaned it up.  It was Dora’s when she was a little girl.  But it looks brand new now.”  The front door was opening, but Dora could do nothing to stop the stream that she was releasing now.  She could only sit in horror as her mother and their neighbor, Miss Trisha entered the living room from outside.  Their mouths were agape, staring at the pantsless Dora who was pissing in the potty chair.

“I...nevermind.  Maybe I can see if I can get one at the store,” said Miss Trisha before adding:  “Besides...maybe Dora still needs it?”  Dora’s mother closed the door behind her, looking frustrated and humiliated.

Dora made a move to stand up, but her mother stopped her.

“No, Dora, you’re going to stay there.”

“Mum...I...I was just playing around.  I didn’t mean for you and Miss Trisha to see me like this.”

“Well Miss Trisha wasn’t wrong, was she?  Looks like you need it more than her little one.”

“It...it was just a joke...”

“Well now that you’ve made ME into the joke, Dora, I think it's only fitting that I get a laugh at your expense.”

“Mum, please, I’ll just get up and clean this thing out and then...”

“No.  You’re going to stay there until you’ve done all your business in it.”

“What?  Mum...you don’t mean...”

“Yup. You do all your business in that little potty chair for me.  In the middle of the room.  Just like a little toddler.  Then we’ll go show Miss Trisha what a good girl you were.”

“Mum, please...no...”

“If you want your precious cell phone to get paid for, you’ll do as I say.”

Her mother sat down on the couch and started flipping through channels.  Dora couldn’t believe the predicament she was in now.  Nothing left to do now except...try to get it over with.

She pushed and grunted a little, though nothing happened.  This might take a while.

“Aww, you keep on trying, wittle Dora,” her mother mocked through laughter.

Just keep trying, she told herself.  You just have to get this over with.

She pushed again.  Nothing.

It was going to be the longest night of her life.
