The first ABDL story that I ever wrote, about 15 years ago, was about a man who hired a sex worker to treat him like a baby. He had hired her a few times before, but their arrangement was becoming strained by his increasing demands and terrible attitude. Finally pushed to her limits, she leaves the man tied to a bed in only a diaper and leaves - where he’d have to stay for an indefinite amount of time until he was found. If he was ever found.

I posted it to an online forum which still exists, I think, though it's been through a few iterations/servers/hosts over the years. I’ll never forget the reaction: “That seems good...but maybe a little dark?”

That was probably true.

In some ways I’ve come a long way. I’m pretty sure I’ve never ended a story since with the character’s mortality in question. But in a lot of ways, I think I’m writing the same kind of story I wanted to write when I first started: Stories with a sense of risk. The risk of humiliation. The risk of exposure. The risk of your secrets falling into the hands of the wrong person. The risk of your own secrets betraying you.

I was recently asked how I would describe my stories. What was a Quietly Humiliated story? Well. I think I’ve covered a wide spectrum of stories and concepts. But what do I like to write about the most? That extremely fine line that separates our private world and our public life. The moments when one side breaks through to the other - usually at the least expected time.

But what about you? What sorts of stories do you like? What’s a common thread in your favorite stories - whether or not they’re mine?
