Hello everyone, and happy New Release Monday! As shown in last week's teaser trailer, here is my updated V2.0 of Bildarth's Mercantile!

The previous version of this map was well over 3 years ago and was in much need of an update. I also didn't have a dedicated map for this, as it was all together with my original "Streets of Barovia" map I did. I love the level of detail I'm able to add when I create a dedicated map for each iconic location, and Bildrath's was a lot of fun to bring alive. Most adventuring parties are drawn to general stores, and this, being the first one they get to, really sets the tone for the adventure. The cantankerous Bildarth will show your players how outsiders are treated and remind them they are only as good as their gear (and he won't mind picking off their dead bodies to sell to new parties!). A truly wonderful moment for players to experience and learn how harsh and unrelenting the mist-covered land really is.

This map is a little smaller in scale, gridded at 25x20, and features three core versions:

  • Exterior

  • Interior

  • Basement

The exterior of the shop features plenty of signage, so your party knows where to go to spend their hard-earned coin. Small, worthless trinkets dangle and sway from the building front, inviting players into the warmth of the shop from inside. Nestled on the corner of the main street in the Village of Barovia, your party can see the dilapidated houses looming around this corner shop.

Once inside, they will see a cluttered shop with all manner of adventuring gear. The collection is rag-tag, and it seems as if it was picked off of dead adventurers! As the bell jingles upon entry to alert Bildrath, he's quick to bark at your party and attempt to price-gouge them for all they are worth. Within this building, you will also find a small office area, closet space, and a latrine and bedroom for Bildrath when he's not squeezing coins out of anyone who enters.

In the basement below, even more clutter is stacked on top of each other, waiting to be fixed or repaired so they can be resold. Nestled under the stairs is a small cot with a few scattered toys and some bright flowers. Here, Bildrath's nephew Parriwimple sleeps and resides when he's not throwing adventures out in the mud. Though strong, he's a sweet boy who is loyal to his uncle. I drummed up images of Sloth from The Goonies (a childhood staple of mine) and felt it perfect for Bildrath to live in relative comfort while the large and imposing Parriwimple played with his dead rats and toys in the cold basement below.

For my Champion Tier patrons, you get the following with this release:

  • Exterior, Interior, and Basement level maps

  • 6 Color Moods: Dark Fairytale, Ghostly, Gloom, Night, Sunny Day, & Warm

  • Various weather effects such as Fog, Rain, and Sun Rays

  • No Lights Version for Each Color Mood

  • 8k & 4k Image Resolution

  • Grid & No Grid

  • Jpg & Webp

  • VTT Sizing Guide

Next up I have... a special project I've been working on based on Patron feedback I'm excited to share. I don't want to spoil anything here, so I guess you'll all just have to wait for the teaser trailer to post on Sneak Peek Thursday!

Beyond this, I will be continuing with my Saltmarsh journey and working on the Snapping Line, an Inn / Tavern built using the reclaimed wood of various ships from and around Saltmarsh! A perfect bar for any nautical-themed campaign.

I will also be explore more generic maps to use for your Dark Fantasy games as well and starting my work for the Blood on the Vine tavern once the above projects are completed. Lot's in the hopper and all of which I'm excited to finish and release for you all.

Thank you for your continued support of my work!

Cheers,

DM Andy
