Hey everyone! Below is my monthly recap of the maps I released for the month of May. We were able to explore the strange sounds coming from the Church of Barovia's undercroft, traverse the Old Misty Road and set up camp amidst the howling of wolves, walk down Sharkfin Bridge and partake in the many wonderous shops and eateries available, and sail to the elusive Dragon Ruins in search for ancient secrets.

Below, you will find a recap of each map along with the map link to download it. Don't forget, all my maps are available on my Map Hub, where I organize everything on one page.

The Church & Graveyard of Barovia

I think this is one of the most iconic locations in the village of Barovia and I was so excited to get to create a V2.0 of this map. The original church map I did was well over 3 years ago now, and it's always nice to see the growth of that time. I'm excited to add a new perspective to these building maps, which I feel gives them both more depth and detail as your players can see the building's facade and walls. I was also very excited to feature a number of new art assets I've commissioned exclusively for DM Andy Maps, such as the new doors, gravestones, pillars, archways, candlesticks, and more! Additionally, with the new hidden path added to the Undercroft map, I hope this inspires more encounter ideas for our tragic vampire spawn below.

And in case you missed it and want some inspiration, here is the map trailer video I made for this release!

Old Road Encounters

While pretty common in the map-making world, there is a reason road maps are so popular. Fantastical locations are great, but more often than not, we, as DMs, find ourselves needing a basic travel map for encounters we have planned, and we all know our parties like to stick to the road where possible.

The Old Misty Road Encounters map features a small muddy dirt road cutting through the looming pine forest around it. I created three variants for this map, featuring more trees, a campsite, and a singular roadside grave with a single burning candle on top of it.

I hope this gives you more variety and allows you to run all sorts of road encounters you might have planned.

Sharkfin Bridge

You all know my love for all things gothic horror, but I've also fallen in love with the sea. Specifically, the oceanside of Saltmarsh, where I can play with vibrant colors and new and exciting map details! Of all the Saltmarsh locations, Sharkfin Bridge was by far the one I was most excited about. Taking inspiration from the Medieval London Bridge, this map features a packed and sprawling stone bridge spanning the river as it meets the Saltmarsh Harbor. There are so many fun and quirky shops to buy supplies from or to enjoy some eats and an ale.

Additionally, I added an "underbridge" map to show a small collection of shanty-like buildings to include in your games where back alley deals and smuggling arrangements could be made.

And in case you missed it, I created a fun little map trailer for this one here!

Dragon Ruins

I gave some love to the Dark Fantasy side of the world this month with my Old Road Encounters map so I wanted to do the same for the nautical side as well. I created The Dragon Ruins map with inspiration from the hit game Elden Rings and it features a strange and ancient set of ruins at a once-temple dedicated to the worship of dragons. This map features a fiery red brazier to be lit, and I hope I can inspire all manner of fun dragon-themed encounters here! It's always good to have a collection of island maps to explore for your seafaring campaigns, and plan to make more maps like this so you have plenty to throw at your players during a journey.

That's a wrap for May! I hope you've enjoyed the dark fantasy and nautical-themed maps I created, and I'm excited about what June has in store. Keep an eye on this page for upcoming sneak peeks of my projects in the workshop!

Until then,

Cheers!

DM Andy
